How Do You Interact With News on Social Media?

Social media has become an important way that many people find, consume and share news. These online communities expose us to information we might not otherwise come across, and provide a space for discussion and exchange.

So we are doing a little project to explore how people think about the news they encounter on social media. We’d like to get your responses to a few headlines, and ask a couple of brief follow-up questions.

David Rand, a professor at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology who studies cognitive science and social media, and his team will review responses (with identifiers removed) and then share their findings about you and other New York Times subscribers attending our live event in May.

You will be presented with a set of news headlines from a variety of online news sources. We are interested in how likely you would be to share them on social media if you saw them there.
