Zones to carry names of three stalwarts

The National Primary Schools’ Athletics Championship (NAPSAC) committee honoured Barbadian Olympians Freida Nicholls, Ryan Brathwaite and the late Marcia Trotman this morning when the zonal reveal and draw took place this morning at the Garfield Sobers Sports Complex.

Over the 20-year history of NAPSAC, participating schools were divided into five zones – Andrea Blackett, Obadele Thompson, Jim Wedderburn, Patsy Callender, Anton Norris – but it will now be eight with the addition of Nicholls, Brathwaite and Trotman.

During the draw attended by the new Minister of Sports and Community Empowerment  Charles Griffith, Deputy Chief Education Officer and NAPSAC chairperson Janelle Denny, the names of the schools were pulled and placed into respective zones.

The first NAPSAC event will run from Monday, March 14th to Wednesday, March 23rd with its Get Moving Festival. Then on Tuesday, May 10th to Friday, May 13th the Cross Country Relay will take place.
