Togetherness Social Group hosts annual Christmas party IIaro Court

The Togetherness Social Group hosted the 2020 edition of its annual Christmas party for children from communities it serves on the grounds at IIaro Court, today.

Eighty-five children attended the eighth Christmas arty being staged since the Group’s inception approximately 12 years ago.

President of the Togetherness Group, Pat Parris, told members of the media that the party is normally held at the group’s headquarters, at Jackmans, St Michael, but because of COVID 19, the decision was made to approach Prime Minister Mia Mottley to use her official residence.

“As a result of COVID, we had to be creative since we were not having the usual jumping tent, rides, and face painting. We invited one parent per child, and transportation was provided for persons requiring it,” Parris said.

The children had an enjoyable time as they participated in apple eating and gift wrapping competitions, along with singing Christmas songs and delivering recitations. They also played musical chairs.

“It is customary to give each child attending the children’s party a gift of a book, but this year we are giving each family represented a ham. We are cognizant of the effects COVID 19 is having on families this Christmas and this is our way of assisting them. Each child would be given a loot bag with snacks,” Parris said. (AH)
