Shandilare wants more chances for young artistes | Entertainment

Up-and-coming fusion artiste Shandilare would like to see more avenues of exposure created for young artistes in the Jamaican music industry.

“Getting a break in the Jamaican music industry is no easy task; you could be one of the most talented artistes in the world and still don’t make it. The music business is extremely competitive and the avenues of exposure for young artistes are limited. I would love to see the gatekeepers change things up a bit and give more young artistes a chance to make it,” he said.

The singjay, who lists Wu Tang Clang, Shinehead and Beenie Man among his musical influences, is confident that he will soon be a household name on the international music scene.

“My style is on a whole different level because I am not a one-dimensional artiste. I’m a multi-genre artiste. I take trap, dancehall, and hip hop and mix it all up to create my own style,” said Shandilare. He’s currently promoting his new single, Out of Luck, which was produced by Skytop Studio and released on January 1.

Shandilare, given name Shandel Junior Charlton, hails from Grants Pen, St Andrew, and is a graduate of the Edith Dalton James High School. He launched his recording career in 2019 with a song titled Clean Water, which was produced by Wave Master Kush Production.
