Moses I makes them dance on new track | Entertainment

While performing his 1998 hit song Crazy Look (with Capleton) at the recent Rebel Salute in St Ann, singer Moses I gave the receptive audience something new, his latest song I Could Make You Dance.

The Rastafarian artiste did a snippet of the song, showing off his dance moves during his stint on stage. Released last December, the self-produced single has an old-school funk feel, made popular in the 1970s by bands like Parliament-Funkadelic.

“Wi wanted to come wid something different, ’cause wi used to party a lot back inna di days, listen to people like Michael Jackson. Rasta wi sey, but wi listen to everything,” said Moses I.

The artiste is from the Liguanea area of St Andrew where he learned the message of Rastafari. He began recording in the late 1980s for producers such as Philip ‘Fatis’ Burrell and Winston ‘Wee Pow’ Powell of Stone Love Movements.

Although known for hardcore roots songs like Reparation, Moses I is not afraid to experiment with other genres. Deja Vu, his prior release, was a roots-reggae ballad.

The rocking Crazy Look was done with Capleton when that artiste was at the peak of his popularity. It earned Moses I a tour of Europe with Capleton.
