Moore ‘Green’ House accumulated 516 points and earned bragging rights against keen rivals Gomes ‘Blue’ House scoring 494 points in the second position when Sharon Primary held their inter-house sports today at the Usain Bolt Sports Complex.
While the battle for first place was fierce between champions Green House and Blue House, the competition between third place finishers King ‘Yellow’ House ending on 478 and Sobers ‘Red’ House registering 464 was also competitive.
Among the top performers today at the Ryan Brathwaite Track was Under-13 Boys standout Khalil Bryan of Green House as he announced himself as the fast boy at Sharon Primary when he completed the sprint double. Bryan clocked 13.83 seconds in the 100m and was just as unstoppable in the 200m, crossing the finish line in 28.43 seconds.
Surely, the crowned Prince of Green House, Bryan also won the 400m in 64.62 to take home three gold medals. The boys’ 800m open race was captured by Red House duo Luis Cadogan in 3:21.10 for first position while his housemate Omar Hinkson in 3:38.03, was second.
On the girls’ side, there were three respective winners in the 100m, 200m and 400m for the Under-13 Division. In the 100m Jakaila Henry of Yellow House pulled away from the field in 15.74 seconds for the top podium finish.
The 200m for that age group belonged to Kiara Eversley of Red House clocking 34.33 seconds. Meanwhile, Zuri Watkiss of Blue House in 1:27.06 secured the 400m gold medal. Kimora Bovell-Davis also of Blue House was a comfortable winner (2:18.19) in the Girls 600m.
The Under-11s also featured on the track and Danya Straughn-Mitchell of Green House (18.02 seconds) managed to stave off stiff competition from her Yellow House rival Jordan Williams (18.14 seconds) in the girls’ 100m showdown that went down to the finish line between those two. Straughn-Mitchell also made a statement when she emerged victorious (39.66 seconds) in the 200m.
Leilani Webb, a Blue House competitor amongst the Under-11 Girls, was able to stamp her authority in the 300m race, as she cruised to victory in 1:35.80 minutes.
Kia Knight, also of Blue House, was in control of the Under-11 Boys 100m and 300m races with a leading time of 16.50 seconds and 1:01.92 respectively.
However, Knight was unable to stop the Green House pair of Aiden Spencer (34.32 seconds) and Trishawn Haynes (35.02 seconds) in the 200m.
Green House once again took centre stage when Shariah Walker slammed all comers in the Under-nine Girls 80m (14.82 seconds), 100m (18.54 seconds) and the 150m (27.05 seconds). Meanwhile, in the Under-nine Boys, Rajari Walcott of Yellow House laid down the heat to win the 100m (18.55 seconds) and the 150m (26.53 seconds). The 80m for that category however belonged to Jarico Richards of Green House with a time of 14.81 seconds.
