The hybrid event is being held at the Barbados Hilton Resort and will feature prominent women leaders including retired Principal of the University of the West Indies, Cave Hill Campus, Professor the Most Honourable Eudine Barriteau; Sueann Tannis, Senior Director, Integrated Communications, United Nations Foundation; Sonia Layne-Gartside, Change Manager, Strategist, Author and International Speaker; Managing Director of Unicomer Barbados, Trisha Tannis; CEO of Digicel (Barbados) Ltd., and Natalie Abraham. BCCI Executive Director, Misha Lobban Clarke, explained that the forum, which is being held to coincide with International Women’s Day 2022, will be transformational as it is designed for Caribbean women leaders who desire to help empower other women in business and to equip them to maximize their potential in their chosen fields and to attain success.

“Against the backdrop of International Women’s Day 2022 and this year’s theme, #BreakThe Bias, we have been reflecting on how the Chamber, as a leading voice of the business community in Barbados, could play its part to ensure that women here and across the region develop and achieve their highest potential,” Lobban-Clarke said.

“Across the globe, women are still unrepresented from boardrooms to business ownership. While on the flip side, research has shown that where there is more balanced diversity in gender, race and background, there is greater profitability.

As such, we felt that in order to improve the economic outlook of our nation, we needed to find ways leverage our collective strengths while paying it forward to our future leaders,” she added.

The BCCI head said she is encouraging women across Barbados to participate, as the Chamber wants to ensure “that those who have a keen desire in taking their career or business aspirations to the next level, including younger career professionals, are supported in their journey”. (PR)
