Reports to: MANAGER
Salary: $38.81 – $48.51 per hour
Hours: 37.5 HOURS PER WEEK
Status: Temporary Full-time 6 months (with a possibility of extension)

POSITION:

As an integral member of the Outpatient Mental Health team, the principal responsibilities of the Mental Health Clinician include providing comprehensive psychotherapy assessments of patients; providing group and individual treatment for patients; participating in patient navigation and case management; providing therapeutic interventions for patients, families and significant others; utilizing a multimodal perspective; developing and implementing appropriate group treatments; making referrals to other community and hospital programs; collaborating with hospital/community groups and agencies in the identification, planning, development and implementation of needed mental health programs; performing departmental responsibilities to contribute to the efficient and effective provision of services; performing teaching responsibilities, participating in relevant research activities, performing duties consistent with the job classification, as required.

This is a contract position to cover a leave of absence.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Completion of a Master’s degree program in Health and/or Social Sciences
  • Registration licensure with a regulatory college allowing independent practice of the Act of Psychotherapy, (e.g. Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers, etc.)
  • 3 years practical and related experience required
  • Experience working in an outpatient mental health setting
  • Experience facilitating group programs/therapy
  • Experience delivering care via virtual platforms
  • Trained and skilled in multiple treatment modalities: cognitive behavior therapy, mindfulness, dialectical behavior therapy, and interpersonal therapy.
  • Ability to perform duties in a professional and courteous manner and produce high quality work while meeting deadlines in accordance to UHN standards
  • Exercise initiative and good judgment with ability to multi-task
  • Compliance with confidentiality requirements
  • Effective organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills
  • Knowledge of applicable legislative, UHN and/or departmental policies
  • Patient service oriented, with the ability to effectively work with diversity and appreciate that people with different opinions, backgrounds and characteristics bring richness to the challenge or situation at hand
  • Excellent problem recognition and problem solving skills
  • Knowledge of the mental health system and community agencies
  • Proven ability to work effectively as a member of a team
  • Proven ability to interact with patients in an empathetic manner
  • Ability to perform responsibilities in a courteous and professional manner
  • Additional courses/education on addictions/mental health related issues are an asset
