About this role

Canadian Blood Services is looking for a Regular Full-Time Developer, Integrated Supply Chain Analytics to join our dynamic Integrated Supply Chain Business Systems & Analytics team. The work of a Developer, Integrated Supply Chain Analytics is integral to Canadian Blood Services’ role as Canada’s Lifeline. In this role, you will translate business data into accessible reports and dashboards that deliver clear insights to enable planning and decision making. You will partner with solutions developers in IT, to represent the technical needs and priorities of integrated supply chain analytics function.

Responsibilities include:

  • Works closely with and leads business systems analysts, other members of the department and Supply Chain & Donor Relations functions in the assessment of requirements and the determination of possible solutions.
  • Develops dashboards and reports that meet or exceed business requirements.
  • Participates in and leads the development and research of various software standards, system architecture and industry developments.
  • Represents the business in the support of existing systems, and partners with IT in the resolution of issues.
  • Understands and complies with CBS Information Technology and regulatory standards.
  • Performs other related duties as required.

Education, Training and Experience:

  • Post-secondary level education in a relevant discipline from a recognized academic institution, preferably in Computer Science or Computer/Software Engineering.
  • Five to seven years of experience as a software developer. This should include, but is not limited to, object-oriented design/modelling, Java programming/web design, relational databases (SQL), various integrated development environments (IDEs) (e.g. Eclipse, IntelliJ IDEA, Microsoft Visual Studio, etc.) and agile development.

Demonstrated Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to conduct business professionally and develop strong working relationships with other team members.
  • Proven ability to learn in a fast-paced, dynamic and challenging environment.
  • Ability and desire to learn and enhance software development skills.
  • Strong problem analysis, planning and organizational skills.
  • Strong documentation skills (e.g. use cases, functional specifications, training and user guides).
  • Strong communications skills in English.
