Job description: 2021 Internship: IT

OFFICE LOCATION: New York City

Organization Overview

REFORM Alliance is a national organization seeking to safely reduce the number of people on probation and parole and create real pathways to work and wellness for people who have been supervised instead of supported. In 2021 our focus is on state and federal probation and parole policy reform.

REFORM was launched in 2019 by award-winning recording artist Meek Mill; Philadelphia 76ers co-owner and Fanatics executive chairman Michael Rubin; Arnold Ventures co-founder Laura Arnold; entrepreneur and business mogul Shawn “JAY-Z” Carter; Kraft Group CEO and New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft; Galaxy Digital CEO and founder Michael E. Novogratz; Vista Equity Partners founder, chairman, CEO Robert F. Smith, Brooklyn Nets co-owner and philanthropic investor Clara Wu Tsai; and CNN host and activist Van Jones.

We are using all the resources we have to help fix the flawed criminal justice system in the United States by changing laws and policies, and building a movement of REFORMers to help change hearts and minds.

2021 IT Internship Program Overview

REFORM is seeking candidates for our 2021 summer internship program. The ideal candidate for the IT internship is a college or graduate student in IT, computer science or engineering; is passionate about criminal justice reform; and is a self-starter who is eager to learn in a team environment.

We want to ensure that our group of 2021 summer interns includes people who have lived experience with the justice system. People who have been directly impacted by or involved with the justice system are encouraged to apply, to identify in their application that they have lived experience, and to share any details about that experience that they feel comfortable sharing.

The IT internship is an opportunity to grow the intern’s knowledge of their chosen field of IT — as well as the intern’s exposure to the power of storytelling and the fight to reform the justice system. This is a non-exempt position and students receive an hourly rate, exposure to leaders in this space and company initiatives, and the opportunity to build transferable business skills. Projects are designed to build knowledge, skills, and professional experience.

The IT Internship will start as soon as possible and last up to eight weeks. The Intern will work and participate in internship activities from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Monday through Thursday. Interns will be paid $15/hour for 20 hours/week.
