Position: Ward Aide
Department: Surgery Program – Surgical Daycare
Status: Permanent Part-Time (must be able to work up to 0.4 FTE)
Hours: Monday to Friday; various rotating 8 hour shifts (Hours are subject to change based on operational needs)

This is what you’ll be doing:
Cleaning stretchers/ chairs. General tidying of the department. Supporting Clinic staff by monitoring supply levels, and stocking supplies as necessary. Assisting nurses with patient care by cleaning and changing linen on stretchers/chairs. Equipment retrieval from throughout the hospital as needed. Other duties to support patient flow as required.
This is what you’ll need to do it:
Halton Healthcare is seeking individuals who are competent in their chosen profession; patient/customer focused; team players; effective communicators; caring and respectful and are fiscally responsible.
- Minimum grade 12 education required
- Must have previous ward aide or related health care experience, surgery experience preferred
- Experience with medical supplies (cleaning/stocking) required
- Experience with order entry via Meditech an asset
- Must be able to diplomatically respond to customer requests in a demanding work environment
- Must be able to work with minimal supervision and organize and prioritize work
- Flexibility and the ability to work quickly in a busy environment
- Must be able to respond appropriately to emergency situations
- Repetitive standing & walking, frequently pushing stretchers, and bending to clean stretchers and chairs
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are essential
- Satisfactory employment record and good attendance record required.
Salary: $18.23 to $22.79 per hour
