Vaccinators on the COVID-19 vaccination team will perform a number of duties including obtaining consent for administration of the COVID-19 vaccine, administration of the COVID-19 vaccine via intramuscular injection and assisting with monitoring and management of patients post vaccination. You may be tasked with additional duties including reconstitution of vaccines and distribution of vaccines within the clinic environment.
Key responsibilities:
- Support large-scale immunization program in response to Covid -19 Pandemic
- Familiarity with relevant guidelines/directives issued by Public Health Units,
Ontario Health, concerning COVID-19 vaccines.
- Safely administer vaccine according to standardized protocol.
- Record details of the vaccine dose and lot number within an electronic system.
- Respond to patient queries and concerns in a professional, respectful and
courteous way.
- Provide education related to after care for immunizations.
- Work with the site supervisor to maximize the efficiency of the immunization
areas.
- Identify and respond to adverse reactions and events.
- Perform other duties as required.
Hours of Work:
Casual – Must be available to work a minimum of 3 shifts per week (minimum of 8 hours per shift), including weekends (exact hours to be determined). Potential to work full-time hours.

Requirements:
- Registered or retired Registered Nurse (RN), RPNs, Dental Hygienist, Veterinarian, Paramedic, Physician Assistants
- Upper year students – Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT), Pharmacy, Dental Hygienist, Physician Assistant, Dietician
- Nursing students (3rd and 4th year), upper year RPN students, Pharmacy student with competency to support vaccination as identified by the Educational Program Leadership
- Demonstrated good interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
- Demonstrated critical thinking, problem recognition and conflict resolution skills
- Demonstrated ability to manage priorities effectively
- Demonstrated ability to work autonomously without direct supervision
- Collaborative and works well within a team environment
- Computer skills an asset
- Must be eligible and/or willing to have a COVID vaccination.
- Must follow all Public Health requirements.
- Ability to speak multiple languages and/or experience working with persons with special needs would be useful.
- Effective subjective and physical assessment skills to monitor for adverse reaction; seeks assistance and escalates as per protocol
