Job description: The Center for Court Innovation is a non-profit organization that works to create a more effective and humane justice system by performing original research and helping launch reforms by guiding justice innovators, nationally and internationally. The Center creates operating projects that have been documented to reduce the use of jail and prison, assist victims of crime, and strengthen communities.
The Center’s Technology Support & Strategy Department supports technology needs across our rapidly growing organization of over 600 staff working on geographically and technologically diverse projects. While much of our infrastructure is hosted and maintained in partnership with New York State’s Office of Court Administration, we support our staff in its software and hardware needs and own and manage Google Suite and other systems, all while being thought leaders and innovators in using technology in criminal justice reform.
The Technology Support and Strategy Department is seeking a Technology Solutions Specialist with experience configuring and supporting SaaS platforms. Reporting to the Director of Technology Support and Strategy, the Technology Solutions Specialist will be responsible for partnering with internal stakeholders from geographically and technologically diverse project sites and leveraging design thinking to determine both current and desired technology processes that meet or improve business requirements. If the desired technology processes necessitate new platforms, then the ideal candidate will work with the internal stakeholders in implementation and coming up with a post-implementation support and training plan.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Gather requirements from relevant stakeholders using design thinking / human-centered design and ensure they are well-defined. If necessary, convert requirements into wireframe or user journey flow diagrams;
- Serve as a project manager: assign, direct, and coordinate work efforts; ensure project goals and timelines are met;
- Monitor the activities of consultants and vendors involved in the project, as needed;
- Research and analyze new and innovative SaaS/PaaS solutions to meet requirements or improve processes;
- Lead solution evaluations and make recommendations to relevant stakeholders on appropriate technological solutions to support processes;
- Coordinate the contracting or purchasing process;
- Customize, test, recommend and configure SaaS/PaaS platforms, which may include prototyping or piloting a solution;
- Partner with IT Support team to provide support to users; escalate issues to vendors, if necessary;
- Collaborate with the Instructional Designer / Technology Trainer to prepare and maintain documentation, including internal support notes, user manuals, process diagrams, videos, and instructions to end-users;
- Master third-party software applications/tools and act as subject matter expert for those tools, understanding available features and functionality, and familiarizing with new enhancements as they become available;
- Additional relevant tasks, as necessary.
Qualifications:
- Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering or a related field;
- 3+ years of experience in SaaS technology implementation and business analysis required;
- Experience working in a nonprofit setting is a plus;
- Conscientious about technology equity issues and the ability to develop solutions for users with diverse backgrounds (i.e., people with varying levels of tech literacy);
- Demonstrated abilities to successfully manage projects;
- Experience documenting workflows and business needs, and translating these to successful technology solutions;
- Familiarity with design thinking or human-centered design is a plus;
- Familiarity with SDLC and agile methodologies is a plus;
- Skills in effective communication, both verbally and in writing, and in expressing technical functions in non-technical terms;
- Ability to gather, understand, and document workflows and business needs, and to translate those needs into technical solutions;
- Strong professional and interpersonal skills including excellent support service, creative problem solving, intellectual curiosity, acute attention to detail and quality, driven with the ability to self-manage, and a team player;
- Ability to multitask across projects and deliver on time and on budget;
- Experience working with some of the following platforms is a plus: Adobe, Airtable, ArcGIS, Asset Panda, AWS, Azure, Box, DocuSign, Jira, Litmos, Mailchimp, Salesforce, Slack, Tableau, Power BI, SurveyMonkey, SurveyGizmo/Alchmer, SimpleTexting, Typeform, Whispir, Zapier, Zendesk, Zoom.
Position Location: Midtown, Manhattan; temporarily remote.
Compensation: Salary range starts at $80,000 and is commensurate with experience.
