Job Description:
The Sustainability Analyst will support Sun Life’s sustainability reporting and disclosures including the annual sustainability report and survey responses to ESG rating agencies such as MSCI, Sustainalytics, S&P Global among others. The successful candidate will work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment with a focus on supporting key sustainability disclosures, enhancing reporting practices and keeping abreast of key industry developments and trends as they relate to sustainability.
What will you do?
Support the development of the annual sustainability report including managing the coordination of subject matter expert engagement and ensuring the project is delivered on time
Work with internal subject matter experts to prepare responses to meet the information needs of sustainability rankings, analysts and ESG rating agencies such as MSCI, Sustainalytics, S&P Global
Proactively engage internal subject matter experts to improve survey responses to better or maintain positions on key rankings and indices’
Support communication of our sustainability plan, including disclosures on our websites
Build and maintain awareness on industry and sustainability reporting trends and best practices
Support research needs of the sustainability team, including developing and maintaining benchmarking reports
Effectively communicate insights, ideas and strategies in a clear, compelling and concise manner (both written and verbal)
What do you need to succeed?
Excellent project management skills including multitasking, prioritization and time management
Excellent oral and written communication, presentation skills, and strong interpersonal skills
Ability to collaborate effectively with a wide variety of stakeholders
Results-oriented individual and an innovative, lateral thinker
Strong analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills
Passion for sustainability and driving social and environmental change
Experience in corporate sustainability reporting strongly preferred
Experience with the SAM Corporate Sustainability Assessment, CDP, Global Reporting Initiative and Sustainability Accounting Standards Board is an asset
Minimum of 2-3 years relevant business experience, ideally within insurance, asset management, or other financial services; experience in/or knowledge of Sun Life’s business is an asset
University degree in sustainability or related discipline

The Base Pay range is for the primary location for which the job is posted. It may vary depending on the work location of the successful candidate or other factors. In addition to Base Pay, eligible Sun Life employees participate in various incentive plans, payment under which is discretionary and subject to individual and company performance. Certain sales focused roles have sales incentive plans based on individual or group sales results.
