STREET LIGHT TECHNOLOGIST I
POSTING NUMBER: 104041
STARTING SALARY: $65,865.80 PER ANNUM
AREA OF RESPONSIBILITY:
Reporting to the Coordinator, Street Lighting, provides ongoing support to the street light program by maintaining Corporate GIS systems and resolving technical system issues, conducting inspections and responding to internal and external inquires, ensuring a high level of customer service.
- Reviews and verifies asset modifications and updates GIS/Hansen 8 datasets.
- Creates new street light assets within the Corporate GIS systems, Hansen 8 validating asset updates and system migration.
- Liaises with Street Light maintenance contractors to ensure service requests and work orders are completed in accordance with the maintenance contract.
- Reviews and maintains the Locate Provider database, ensuring invoicing and locates are completed as per the awarded contract.
- Resolves frontline GIS and Hansen 8 system related issues for internal and external clients; liaising with Information Technology where required.
- Collects, reviews and processes accident recovery documentation as a result of damage to the street light system.
- Provides the street light database to internal and external clients for future design work.
- Assists with the annual pole inspection, replacement and relamping program.
- Assists with reviewing all PUCC applications to ensure proposed underground infrastructure does not conflict with street lighting.
- Performs night inspections and light level analysis, contacting residents with the results of the investigation.
- Responsible for creating and maintaining pole structure numbers, ensuring numbers provided for field installations and structure number are captured in the systems.
- Performs additional similar and related duties as assigned.
SELECTION CRITERIA:
- Completion of a Post-Secondary Diploma in Electrical Engineering Technology – Control Systems or equivalent.
- Over six (6) months, up to and including one (1) year related experience.
- Familiarity with Hansen 8, AutoCAD, Microstation and lighting calculation software.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills with an emphasis on customer service.
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
**Various tests and/or exams may be administered as part of the selection criteria.
