OVERVIEW:
The IT Sr. Project Manager, Product – Digital, oversees the portfolio of diverse projects that span the client’s digital commerce platform; which includes our Web, Mobile, Store and Omni-channel technologies. Their strategy is to build a digital commerce platform that facilitates a unified experience for our customer that spans the entire buying journey from discovery thru purchase, delivery, and support. The new platform will enable new customer acquisition and retention thru a targeted and personalized experience that leverages data and analytics throughout the customer journey. It will also improve overall business operational efficiencies, expand the user’s ability to be “self-serve”, and allow for rapid deployment across a multi-site/multi-banner portfolio of web, mobile, store and omni-solutions. This role is instrumental in bringing this vision and the platform technology to life.
This role is broad in scope and will require collaboration with cross-functional teams, external vendor partners, and remote IT teams located in a variety of different time zones and geographies. In addition to strong project management skills, the role requires strong Retail and Digital Commerce knowledge and a high sense of ownership around delivering results.
Your position will involve regular communication with senior leadership on roadmaps, progress, risks, and change control. Technical design skills, project management and executive communication skills are essential. You will provide project leadership, mitigate project risks, make tradeoffs, and balance business needs versus technical constraints.
Responsibilities
- Provide leadership for project teams by building and motivating team members to meet project goals and milestones. Help members understand how their role contributes to the project benefits
- Full project life cycle ownership/oversight of the Digital portfolio: from pipeline, discovery and initiation through development, test and deployment phases
- Prepare estimates and detailed project plan for all phases of the project; procure adequate resources (both internal and external) to achieve project objectives in planned timeframes
- Participate and/or drive proof-of-concepts, vendor selections and request for proposals for evaluation and selection purposes
- Manage the day-to-day project activities and resources. Provide status reporting regarding project milestones, deliverable, dependencies, risks and issues
- Oversee the scope change control process for the projects
- Set and continually manage project and program expectations with team members and stakeholders
- Delegate tasks and responsibilities to appropriate personnel
- Monitor and track project obstacles to resolve issues, conflicts, dependencies and critical path deliverables
- Drive decisions and align senior stakeholders around the goals and deliverables of the initiative
- Provide clear visibility to all stakeholders on the progress of the initiative, highlighting any risks and issues in advance
- Actively take ownership of any blockers/impediments to deliver results within the given timelines
- Bring internal and external teams together to collaborate on solving problems and delivering innovative solutions
- Work with Product Managers and Technical Leads to define and implement industry standard processes across the agile teams so that they can consistently deliver high quality software and support.
- Act as an internal quality control presence for the project. Manage ongoing quality control activities and participate in quality issue escalation and resolution
Skills & Experience
- Sound understanding of ecommerce/omni-channel landscape including emerging trends, current technologies and vendors and how to leverage to unlock business opportunities.
- Over 5 years of experience in a project management role driving large scale digital commerce solutions in the Retail/B2C sector. For example:
- Web site full launch(es) and/or major website enhancements
- Mobile application deployments (in-store associate apps and/or customer apps)
- Point-of-Sale system implementations
- Omni-channel solutions such as Save-the-Sale, Buy-Online/Pickup-In-Store, Ship-From-Store, etc.
- Experience implementing Shopify and/or Salesforce commerce cloud website(s) required
- Has multiple examples of successfully leading large and diverse teams, consisting of onshore & offshore IT resources, vendor IT resources, and external business team members without having direct authority over all team members
- Experience driving cross-functional projects with senior leadership interaction. Exhibits managerial courage.
- Comfortable in carrying forward during periods of ambiguity
- Good understanding of Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and agile methodologies
- Experience in managing scrum-of-scrums, product backlog, prioritizing user stories, and executing projects in an agile development environment. Well-versed with agile project management tools such as JIRA, Confluence etc.
- Excellent organization and collaboration skills
- Degree in a related field (Computer Science / Engineering / Management)
- Project Management Certification (PMP) preferred
