POSITION SUMMARY:

The Senior Network Engineer is responsible for the oversight and integration of the enterprise-wide network including the planning, design, installation, maintenance, management, and coordination of the GHVHS LAN/WAN. Assists the Network Engineers with developing and maintaining the technical architecture and recommendations related to the GHVHS LAN/WAN. Maintains high level of technical expertise and studies vendor products to determine those which best meet company needs. Coordinates the installation of hardware, software, and networking equipment.

Assists the Network Engineers with the implementation and network integration of the two-tier and three-tier client/server infrastructure to include a multi-server (500+) WAN/LAN environment. Provide 2nd and 3rd level support for Cisco core, distribution, and access layer devices that support the client/server infrastructure. Manage and maintain the Cisco Web Filter Appliance, Secure Client appliance, and all other Cisco support appliances. Manage and maintain the Cisco SmartNet contract for the entire healthcare system. Assists other Engineers with network related design questions.

Working knowledge of Windows Client Server Roles such as AD Sites and Services, DHCP, WINS, DNS and Microsoft AD strategy for GHVHS.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information technology or 8+ years of Network engineer experience.
  • Key Certifications or training from Industry leaders in network technologies, such as Juniper, Cisco, Brocade, Client, etc.
  • Desired certifications include: CCNP Data Center, Route and Switch, Wireless, Security, or Collaboration
  • Demonstrated experience in building, configuring and troubleshooting of Cisco Nexus and Catalyst switches and routers (NX-OS and IOS) across multiple geographically dispersed locations. Familiar with Cisco proprietary technology such as OTV, VDC, VSS, and VPC.
  • Experience with design, management, and troubleshooting of multicast routing protocols such and PIM-DM, PIM-SM, and IGMP.
  • Extensive practical knowledge of all layers of the OSI network model.
  • Experience building out resilient WAN environments via MPLS and P2P. Knowledge/experience of SD-WAN technologies a plus.
  • Must have extensive experience in LAN/WAN, 802.11x, WiFi design, implementation, VPN implementation and maintenance using PPTP, L2TP and IPSEC.
  • Expert knowledge managing/migrating/modernizing routing protocols OSPF, EIGRP, and BGP. Knowledge of redundancy protocols such as GSLB and HSRP required.
  • Understanding of Cisco Wireless LAN Controllers and Access Control Server (Client) (ideally: Cisco Client) is beneficial.
  • Working knowledge with QoS and SIP (bandwidth management as a whole) in a campus and datacenter setting.
  • Selection of, building out and utilizing monitoring and performance tools to troubleshoot, track and predict capacity issues.
  • Collaborate with the Cisco account team to stay abreast of new technologies relevant to the role. Engage Cisco TAC as required to escalate cases and determine RCA.
  • General knowledge of firewalls, VPN, and security technologies.
  • Working knowledge of Cisco UCS – primarily Fabric Interconnects.
  • Strong understanding of VMware ESXI, Vcenter, and VMware distributed switch is preferred.

Certifications: CCNP Data Center, Route and Switch, Wireless, Security, or Voice are preferred

1. Designs, plans and implements network installations, modifications and configuration changes to the corporate infrastructure
2. Works directly with Infrastructure Engineers on all Data Center moves, adds, and changes.
3. Attends monthly meeting with Cisco System Engineer to discuss current Hospital equipment as well as any road map items
4. Works directly with outside vendors on new hardware purchases as well as any proof of concepts.
5. Develops and Maintains the Cisco SmartNet Contract for the Healthcare System
6. Participate in strategic IT architecture sessions and address any network concerns; requires close collaboration with other engineer teams

using SIP, MGCP, RTP, Multicasting, and Unicasting
9. Work directly with hospital data center equipment to include Nexus 7k, 9K, 2K configuration
and design.
10. Configure and install various network devices and services (e.g., routers, switches, firewall, load balancers, VPN, QoS)
11. Work directly with the Hospitals Service Providers to ensure all Service Level agreements are being met.
12. Design and support IP networks for voice, data and video in a Service Provider environment using SIP, MGCP, RTP, Multicasting, and Unicasting
13. Analyze and design network systems so they are efficient, secure, and resilient
14. Maximizes network performance by monitoring performance; troubleshooting network problems and outages; scheduling upgrades; collaborating with vendors
15. Implement and maintain logical design models (L2/L3, spanning tree, VTP, VLANs, physical cabling), remote VPN software, network control protocols (QOS, PoE, NTP, DHCP), network management protocols (CDP, FTP, TFTP, SNMP), and security protocols (SSH, HTTPS, AAA).
16. Reviews complex network designs for new and existing site establishments, site relocations, network upgrades, network expansions, and disaster recovery setups with a focus on Cisco for
core network requirements.
17. Review and Maintain the ticket que for the IT Network Team and report weekly status to the
Network manager
18. Upgrades software / troubleshoot issues on all managed Cisco devices
19. Implement and maintain logical design models (L2/L3, spanning tree, VTP, VLANs, physical cabling), remote VPN software, network control protocols (QOS, PoE, NTP, DHCP), network management protocols (CDP, FTP, TFTP, SNMP), and security protocols (SSH, HTTPS, AAA).
20. Review network utilization statistics to verify that circuits are properly sized. Take proactive approaches in provisioning bandwidth to meet needs or determine more analysis is required
to determine types of bandwidth usage.

Expected salary: $75000 – 82000 per year
