Overview

Reports to: Community School Director

Location: 797 Bushwick Avenue Brooklyn, NY 11221

Hours: 35 hours, exempt

Major Duties:

Leadership

  • Work closely with Community School Director to enhance all aspects of GSS programming through a mental health lens
  • Responsible for oversight of all aspects of daytime clinical program
  • Collaborate and partner with DOE Guidance Staff to support BLHS school culture and administrative practices
  • As needed, facilitate professional development for DOE staff
  • Provide leadership in weekly DOE Guidance Meetings and serve as point person for all of GSS’ clinical work
  • Build relationships and actively collaborate with community stakeholders
  • Recruit, hire, onboard, and supervise full-time social worker and four Master’s level social work interns
  • As needed, facilitate trainings for GSS staff at BLHS around adolescent mental health
  • Actively collaborate to connect participants to other GSS programs and services as needed and appropriate.
  • Handle case-related crises with professionalism, urgency, and care, including incidents involving reports to the State Central Registry and communicate with DOE staff throughout the process

Program Implementation & Direct Practice

  • Facilitate weekly group supervision for mental health team to promote professional growth and create an environment that fosters peer support and collaboration
  • Provide weekly supervision to each social work intern and the full-time social worker to support each team member in striving for excellence in their clinical and administrative work
  • As needed, maintain a small caseload of students for individual and group counseling
  • Maintain clear and concise documentation of all services provided and oversee all data entry into Salesforce database.
  • Provide crisis intervention

Compliance, Documentation & Data Management

  • Monitor and review all progress note entry into Salesforce database within a timely fashion
  • Ensure that adequate safety and risk assessments are conducted during crisis situations that arise
  • Complete all documentation for social work interns including educational plans, mid-year and final evaluations
  • Collaborate with Program Director on annual Community School Forum and provide data of GSS’ clinical work and services provided

Qualifications:

  • LCSW preferred, LMSW required; Eligibility or willingness to take Seminar in Field Instruction course
  • Two years of supervisory experience in a clinical setting preferred
  • Bilingual – English/Spanish preferred
  • Must have strong organizational, administrative, interpersonal, and clinical skills
  • Must have a commitment to work from a strength based, trauma-informed & youth and family development perspective
