JOB SUMMARY:
As an integral member of the EATING DISORDER PROGRAM in the provision of patient and non-patient care activities, the principal responsibilities of the Social Worker include: delivering individual and group cognitive behaviour therapy for eating disorders, leading care partner meetings with family members and significant others for the purpose of facilitating changes in behaviours, attitudes, feelings and/or environment; psychosocial assessment and discharge planning; supervising meals and modeling normal eating behaviour; establishing contact with members of the multi-disciplinary team and community agencies to obtain, provide or exchange information relating to patients´ psycho-social functioning and health care in the past, present and future; rendering services for the immediate benefit of the Hospital and the community; providing clinical teaching to Social Work Students, Medical Students, Professional Colleagues at University Health Network, Faculties of Social Work and in the community; participating in relevant research activities, projects, etc.; performing activities required for the effective and efficient operation/maintenance of the program; performing other duties consistent with the job classification, as required.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- At minimum, completion of a Master’s degree in Social Work
- Registration with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers required
- Membership in the Ontario College of Certified Social Workers (O.C.C.S.W.)
- Three (3) to five (5) years of experience working with a multi-disciplinary team in a health care setting
- Experience with eating disorders
- Experience with cognitive behavioural therapy
- Experience with related mental health areas preferred
- Experience working with anxiety disorders, depression, past trauma or eating disorders or motivational enhancement
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent organizational, time management and problem solving skills
- Exercise initiative and good judgment with ability to multi-task
- Compliance with confidentiality requirements
- Knowledge of applicable legislative, UHN and/or departmental policies and issues related to social welfare institutions and services
- Client service oriented, with the ability to effectively work with diversity and appreciate that people with different opinions, backgrounds and characteristics bring richness to the challenge or situation at hand
- Proven ability to interact with clients in an empathic manner
- Computer knowledge preferred, i.e. Patient Care System and Microsoft Office, or equivalents
- Knowledge of a 2nd language an asset
