Job description: The Acute Care Program is currently seeking a full-time, temporary (15 months) Social Worker 2 to work in the Drug Treatment Court Program.
The Drug Treatment Court is a unique treatment program, featuring close collaboration between treatment and the criminal justice system. Clients apply voluntarily but have an ongoing accountability to the court throughout the duration of their program, which lasts a minimum of twelve months. Clients of the program have a dependence on opiates, crack/cocaine and/or methamphetamine, are facing criminal charges and often present with Concurrent Disorders, poverty, homelessness and trauma impacts. The program provides group and individual therapy, case management, system advocacy, housing and ongoing assistance with life skills and social determinants of health. The treatment model requires staff to be highly flexible, excellent team players, effective communicators and have a solid commitment to and understanding of client-centred and trauma-informed care.
While located at 100 Stokes Street, this position requires working with clients at CAMH, in court, jails, community and in their homes.
Responsibilities include: group therapy, intensive case management, psycho-educational sessions, individual therapy sessions, ad hoc clinical support, addiction assessments, referrals, writing court reports for entire caseload twice weekly, data entry and clinical documentation. This position requires work within an inter-professional team in close collaboration with the courts. You must be capable of providing supervision of MSW students. Some evening hours may be required. Other related duties may be assigned as required.
Qualifications
The successful candidate will possess a Master’s of Social Work degree combined with a preferred 3 years of post-graduate work experience and be registered and a member in good standing with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers. You will also have clinical experience in the treatment of substance use problems or concurrent disorders. In addition, the successful candidate will possess demonstrated skills and experience in substance abuse and/or concurrent disorder treatment through both individual and group counseling. Candidates must have a working knowledge of harm reduction, trauma-informed care, case management and the criminal justice system. Training in and experience treatment modalities such as Motivational Interviewing, CBT and DBT will be required. Knowledge of the principles of problem-solving courts is an asset, as is experience in supporting client in housing. Superb organizational and interpersonal skills are also essential. Direct working experience with or lived working knowledge of the diverse communities in Toronto is considered a strong asset. Knowledge of community resources in substance abuse treatment, along with experience working as part of an interdisciplinary team is essential. Strong communication skills (verbal and written) combined with computer literacy are required. Bilingualism (English/French) or proficiency in a second language is an asset.

Salary Range: $36.04 – $48.57 per hour
