Job description: The Acute Care and Clinical Services is currently seeking a full-time, permanent Social Worker 2 for the Emergency Crisis Service (Emergency and Emergency Assessment Unit). As a member of an interprofessional team you will provide assessment, crisis intervention, treatment planning and assist with short-term follow-up and disposition. You will be a resource person for the team and deliver relevant social work services to clients, their families and others. You will liaise with other services in the clinical Programs, within CAMH and community agencies to coordinate care for clients. This role requires participation in support service initiatives for the program; assist in developing and maintaining linkages and, building networks with community agencies, groups, and resources, as appropriate. You will have sound knowledge of, crisis intervention, recovery based practice, severe and persistent mental illness and substance use issues. You will be able to work with clients from diverse populations; contribute to program development; and participate in the research activities of the program. Candidates must be capable of providing supervision of Masters of Social Work students, collaborating with faculties of social work on special projects related to the development of the social work field, contributing to the development of best practices unique to the social work field and also teaching to other professionals. You will support a workplace that embraces diversity, encourages teamwork and complies with all applicable and regulatory requirements. You will be responsible for assessing clients presenting in the Emergency Crisis Service and follow-up on referrals as required by the clinical needs of the client. Reporting to the Manager of the Emergency Crisis Service and the Head of the Emergency Crisis Service you are required to work Monday to Friday 8 hours shifts from 1130 to 0730. This position is currently located at 1051 Queen Street West.
Qualifications
The successful candidate will possess a Master’s of Social Work degree combined with a preferred 3 years of post-graduate work experience and be registered and a member in good standing with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers. Preference will be given to those who have experience working with individuals experiencing mental health and or addiction issues. You will be a registered member in good standing with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers. You must be eligible for an adjunct faculty appointment with the faculties of social work that have affiliation agreements with CAMH. Knowledge and proficiency in the provision of crisis intervention, including risk assessment and management from a non-medical perspective, is essential. You must have an excellent working knowledge of and competency in the areas of DSM IV TR diagnostic criteria, and psychiatric medication. Knowledge of emergency psychiatry, community resources in mental health and substance abuse treatment is an asset. Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and written communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced clinical environment are also essential. Computer skills, including word processing, electronic communication, and workload measures are essential. You will be able to work effectively as a team member in a dynamic interprofessional environment and be a self-starter. Knowledge of emergency psychiatric and crisis intervention principles and theory is required. Demonstrated ability to work with stakeholders and clients of diverse ethno-racial and ethno-cultural backgrounds ability is necessary. Bilingualism (French/English) or proficiency in a second language would be an asset.

Salary Range: $36.04 – $48.57 per hour
