Reporting to the Deputy Director of the Safe Workplace Unit, you will play a key role building awareness around health and wellness matters by supporting the development and delivery of various initiatives for both agencies. As the technical expert, you will be providing specialized advice and guidance, analysis and recommendations to employees, managers at all levels on a range of topics related to the mental health and wellness program as well as the Values and Ethics programs.

You will also support the development, implementation and monitoring of the Mental Health and Wellness programs and protocols to support the People Management Strategy by identifying organizational risks and developing practical solutions and strategies to advance and enhance the agencies’ programs, policies and services

Job Summary

The Senior Human Resource Advisor leads the design, development and implementation of significant components or elements of human resources (HR) integrated plans and HR management policies and programs for one or more HR disciplines. As the subject matter expert, provides leadership to the HR team as well as senior management and provides professional advice, guidance and recommendations to Agencies(s)

Statement of Qualifications

Education

Degree from a recognized post-secondary institution in a field relevant to the position or an acceptable combination of experience, training and education relevant to the position.

Experience

Significant*** and recent ** experience working in a mental health and wellness program or initiative
Significant* experience in conducting research from multiple sources, conducting analysis data from a variety of sources, writing reports and providing senior – advice to senior management on human resources issues.
Significant*** experience in providing advice to all management level and clients and writing documents to management at all levels, such as analyses, plans, reports, briefing notes.
Experience in providing assistance to employees and managers in dealing with sensitive and complex issues.
Sound* and recent** experience in managing cross-functional projects or program.
Sound* and recent** experience in the development and implementation of HR policies and/or programs.

***Significant is equivalent to three (3) or more years of experience
** Recent = within the last three (3) years

  • Sound is equivalent to one (1) or more years of experience.

Knowledge

Knowledge of policies, initiatives and programs relating to mental health and wellness
Knowledge of policies, initiatives and programs relating to Code of Conduct and Conflict of Interest and Post-Employment Policy
Knowledge of HR management trends, principles, and best practices.
Knowledge of project management and change management principles and practices.

Abilities

Analyze complex issues, and communicate effectively ideas, views and concerns relating to workplace differences and propose viable solutions.
Plan and manage a large number of different activities and conflicting timelines
Analyze and synthesize data from a variety of sources in order to identify needs, gaps and put forward recommendations
Ability to supervise and lead a team
