Position Description
Based in the Child Youth & Emerging Adult Program the donor funded McCain Centre is focused on enhancing and improving the design, delivery and effectiveness of mental health and addictions care systems, services and policies for youth aged 12-25. The McCain Centre combines evidence-based and creative research techniques to ensure a strong youth voice and influence in their initiatives.
The McCain Centre is currently seeking a full-time, contract (1 year) Research Analyst to assist with an ongoing neuroimaging project at CAMH. The successful applicant will have a background that will allow them to support an ongoing research project involving gender diverse youth and the medical staff responsible for their care.
The primary responsibilities of this position will involve participant recruitment and scheduling, data management, and clerical duties associated with the project. Participant recruitment will take place through collaboration with treatment providers in the greater Toronto area who work with youth who identify on the transgender spectrum. Participant recruitment will also involve recruiting youth from the community via community centres, organizations, and youth-oriented public events and festivals. Because this project is a longitudinal study, duties will also include maintaining contact with participants to retain them in the study and schedule follow-up appointments. The successful applicant will also administer questionnaires and neuropsychological tests under the supervision of study staff. Additionally, the successful applicant will be responsible for entering data into the study database, and assisting to design and enter data into web-based data management tools (REDCap). Clerical duties will include bookkeeping, documenting study expenditures, keeping study documents up-to-date, and preparing research materials. You will support a healthy workplace that embraces diversity, encourages teamwork and complies with all applicable CAMH policies, as well as all regulatory and legislative requirements. Occasional evening and/or weekend work may be required. This position is located at 80 Workman Way, and activities associated with the position will take place across CAMH sites (Queen Street and College Street sites) as well as other academic health institutions (required to work at Sick Kids Hospital) located in downtown Toronto.
Qualifications:
The successful candidate will have an Honours Bachelor’s Degree (e.g., Psychology, Neuroscience) combined with one (1) year of relevant post-graduate experience working in a research environment. The successful candidate will have experience interacting with demographically and clinically diverse individuals. Education or experience with transgender/LGBTQ+ populations is an asset, particularly familiarity with and sensitivity to issues related to transgender youth. Experience working with and maintaining research databases is a requirement. Experience with REDCap or similar software is an asset. Excellent interpersonal, communication (oral/written) and organizational skills are required, Demonstrated ability to work independently, to exercise initiative with good judgment as well as the ability to collaborate with team members is required. You will be detail-oriented, have the ability to multi-task and produce high-quality, accurate work while meeting deadlines. The ability to handle confidential materials effectively and communicate with tact is required. The successful candidate will have the ability to work effectively in a variety of settings with individuals from diverse backgrounds. Bilingualism (French/English) and/or proficiency in a second language would be an asset. A complete and satisfactory police background check for vulnerable sectors is required.
Please note: This full-time contract position is part of the OPSEU bargaining unit.
Salary Range: $25.03 to $33.38 per hour
