What You Will Be Doing

The individual cast in this role will work closely with the Engineering, Quality Assurance, and Build and Release teams to help build, operate and monitor our software platform. Additionally, this person will assist in transforming our platforms into a cloud-native state for ultimate migration to a commercial cloud platform. Heavy emphasis for this role is placed on having superior technical skills, a keen understanding of both environments and applications, a strong commitment to team and process, the ability to implement and apply automation appropriately, a demonstrated ability to create and listen to operational telemetry, as well as a deep understanding of application and environment security. Essentially, the ideal candidate will enable us to deliver on platform performance, security, and uptime requirements.

Primary duties and responsibilities:

– Architects, designs and implements Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) pipelines, infrastructure-as-code, Operational Telemetry and reporting, Incident-response, and Disaster Recovery/Failover systems for a variety of software components, either deployed in the cloud or in internally managed data centers.
– Performs analysis, coding, debugging, testing and troubleshooting throughout the entire DevOps process
– Performs routine application management and maintenance of Gitlab, Nexus, Jenkins, GitOps, and other DevOps tools
– Troubleshoots and resolves errors in existing production systems
– Provides recommendations for enhancing software performance
– Creates scripts, as well as performs script maintenance and updates
– Architecting, designing and implementing automated deployments through the use of configuration management technology
– Deploying new releases and upgrades within production environments

What You Need for this Position

What’s essential:

– Background in Linux Administration
– Minimum of 1-2 years DevOps (though ideally more)
– GitLab
– Jenkins
– CI/CD Pipelines
– Security

– BS in CS (or similar) strongly preferred

What’s nice to have:

– Monitoring and alerting tools like Site 24X7 and Icinga2
– Experience building RPM and maintaining a YUM repository
– Experience with HTTP load balancers (Nginx, Apache, HAProxy)
– Infrastructure as code techniques and tools
– Scripting Languages (Python, Ruby, etc.)
– Knowledge of AWS and Containers
