Job description: The Nursing Resource Team (NRT) operates within the Professional Practice portfolio under the strategic leadership of the Director of Professional Practice. A Coordinator provides the day-to-day leadership and direction for the team along with a dedicated Clinical Educator. The NRT is a staffing team made up of registered nurses whose shifts are assigned to clinical areas to meet appropriate staffing requirements. NRT nurses respond to needs based on patient acuity, replacement of sick time, vacation relief, known vacancies, etc. Nurses are aligned to multiple units also referred to as “clusters” of units based on their interest, expertise and learning needs. The clusters are based on specialty and common competencies and skill sets. Members of the NRU have the opportunity to work on a variety of clinical areas, and experience a variety of learning opportunities in a supportive environment. Nurses in the NRT are provided with a comprehensive orientation and competency development program.
Regular Part-Time
Rate of Pay: $33.56 per hour – $48.05 per hour
Qualifications
- Current Certificate of Registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario
- Current Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers course: BLS-HCP(C)
- One (1) year recent, related medicine or surgical experience, preferred
- Demonstrated knowledge of nursing principles, assessment and technical skills
- Demonstrated knowledge of Cerner or an electronic health record preferred
- Demonstrated problem solving, critical thinking and decision-making ability
- Ability to establish effective relationships with patients, families and members of the healthcare team
- Demonstrated warmth, interest and empathy in interactions with patients, and family
- Demonstrated excellent organizational, interpersonal, communication skills and a high level of initiative
- Proven ability to effectively work independently and as a member of a multi-disciplinary health care team
- Demonstrated flexibility, adaptability and ability to change in a dynamic environment
- Ability and willingness to work in different environments
- Demonstrated effective conflict resolution skills
- Demonstrated commitment to continuous learning and professional development
- Demonstrated knowledge of and commitment to the principles of patient and family centred care
- Demonstrated knowledge of and commitment to patient and staff safety at LHSC
- Demonstrated ability to attend work on a regular basis
Immunization Requirements:
- Provide Immunization or proof of immunity reflective of Ontario Hospital Association (OHA) Guidelines. These include measles, mumps, rubella and varicella, and a tuberculosis skin test.
