Job Description
Women’s College Hospital has established a variety of programs supporting the COVID-19 pandemic. Staff hired to the CRSC will initially support a specific COVID program. As the needs of the COVID programs evolve, staff may be cross-trained to work in other areas as needed.
COVID Programs within the CRSC include:
- West End YMCA Vaccine Pop-Up Clinic
- Community Response Team (Mobile Testing)
- Vaccine Support
- Alternate Level of Care (ALC) Inpatient Unit
- COVID-19 Assessment Centre
- Long-Term Care Plus (LTC+)
- COVIDCare@Home
Depending the assigned area, Registered Nurse duties may include and are not limited to:
- Assessment of the identified populations for swabs for COVID 19 or vaccinations
- Obtaining swabs and educating people about COVID 19
- Preparing and/or administering COVID 19 vaccination
- Providing patient care and care coordination in person on the Alternate Level of Care unit or virtually within COVIDCare@Home or LTC+
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary team
- Accurately collect and record information from patient as required
- Assesses, plans, implements and evaluates patient care in compliance with the scope of practice
- Receives patients, obtains and documents nursing assessment, as applicable
- Identifies and prioritizes for the physical, psychological, social and spiritual needs of the patient
- Provides care, resources and information in a compassionate and caring manner for diverse population groups
- Collaborates with other members of the health care team to ensure standards of care and practice are met
- Liaises with the community to facilitate the continuity of patient care
- Prioritizes patient care and provides a safe and secure environment for patients and staff
- Delegates and assigns clinical tasks to the appropriate provider as necessary
- Acts as a mentor, coach, clinical resource, consultant, and facilitates all activities to promote excellence of care
- Other duties as assigned

Qualifications
- Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing
- Current registration in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario
- Previous or recent medical/surgical/emergency experience an asset
- BCLS certification required
- Previous experience working in an outpatient clinic setting, ambulatory care, acute care, or longterm care
- Excellent physical assessment, critical thinking and problem-solving skills required
- Strong communication skills required and previous team leading experience an asset
- Ability to work independently & collaboratively in a team environment
- Ability to work in fast paced environment
- Demonstrated record of good performance and acceptable attendance will be considered as part of the selection criteria
- Professional behaviour and communication that meets the standards of the professional regulatory college or association, as applicable, and the standards of Women’s College Hospital
- This position plays a critical role in acting as an advocate for safety and will demonstrate principles, practices and processes that will optimize a safe environment for all
