Job description: The Acute Care Program (ACP) is currently seeking two part-time, permanent Registered Nurse to work in the Withdrawal Management Service. As a member of an interprofessional team, you will provide client-centred psychiatric and general nursing care and ensure safety and security of the client care environment. You will practice in accordance with the College of Nurses of Ontario professional standards, Canadian Standards for Psychiatric-Mental Health Nursing, CAMH policies and procedures, and with the CAMH Practice Model of Care. You will be expected to perform assessments, develop, implement and evaluate the interprofessional plan of client care for clients in the acute/post acute withdrawal management phase of Addictions Treatment. You will contribute to activities such as client/unit/program development, facilitate groups, and be responsible for ongoing admission and assessment of clients admitted to the Medical Withdrawal Unit. You will liaise with other services in the ACP, within CAMH, and community agencies to coordinate care for clients. You will be able to work with clients from diverse populations; contribute to program development; participate in clinical supervision; provide education support and supervision to students and participate in the research activities of the program. Your skills include the ability to make behavioural observations, mental status and physical assessments, monitor patient’s response to pharmaceutical and care interventions, documentation, and ongoing communication with other team members. You will have sound knowledge of crisis intervention, conflict management and de-escalation, addiction issues, mental illness, recovery oriented care, trauma-informed care, harm reduction and group facilitation. Your strengths include an ability to perform assessments, develop, implement and evaluate interprofessional client centered care plans. You will support and contribute to a healthy workplace that embraces diversity, encourages teamwork and complies with all applicable regulatory and legislative requirements. This position involves shift rotation and weekend work.
Qualifications
The successful candidates must be registered in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario. A current B.C.L.S. (CPR) certificate is also required. Preference will be given to candidates who possess, or are currently pursuing a BSCN and/or CNA certification in Psychiatric/Mental Health Nursing. Psychiatric nursing experience with individuals with mental illness and/or addictions is an asset. You will possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills to enabling you to develop the Nurse – Client relationship and work within a collaborative and diverse interprofessional team. Effective leadership, decision-making, organizational and problem solving skills are required. You have demonstrated ability to intervene effectively in clinical situations requiring the management of disturbed behaviour. The ability to work with clients of diverse cultural and social backgrounds is necessary. Computer literacy is required. Bilingualism (French/English) and/or proficiency in a second language would be an asset.
Please Note: This part-time, permanent positions are a 0.3 commitment, which may be subject to change as per the Collective Agreement. Additional hours may be available based on operational needs. These position is part of the ONA Bargaining Unit.
Salary Range: $33.56 – $48.05 per hour
