Your opportunity:
As a Program Course Administrator, you will be reporting to the Director, Education Programs and Administrative Services. The Program Course Administrator provides administrative and education technology support to the LDFP programs and initiatives by responding to Faculty, staff and students in a customer service focused manner and redirecting as required for items that need to be escalated. The Program Course Administrator will work with assigned faculty on all aspects of course administration and delivery. Specific duties will include providing detailed technical information and support to instructors for course set up and design, integrating, deploying and using educational technology tools and features for use in their courses, troubleshooting issues. The Program Course Administrator is also responsible for a range of administrative duties which include creating and editing support documentation, coordinating tasks for projects, collating and organizing materials, collating and organizing data for various reports and projects and facilitating educational workshops and seminars.
The programs offered consist of courses comprising of didactic, lab-based and experiential education. Courses are delivered in a variety of formats including in person, online synchronous and asynchronous lectures, facilitated discussions, case-based learning, independent project work, didactic classes, and small group discussion.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Probing for information from end-users to identify problems and establish needs
- Identifying and introducing variations to established administration processes
- Providing detailed information to instructors on how to build a course shell
- Troubleshooting issues uncovered by testing or user feedback
- Creating and editing support documentation
- Facilitating educational workshops and seminars
Essential Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Education, Information Studies or a related field or acceptable equivalent combination of education and experience
- Minimum three (3) years experience providing consultations to faculty/graduate students on a range of educational technologies including, but not limited to, learning management systems, lecture capture technologies, webcasting technologies, video-conferencing, computer-based assessment technologies, plagiarism detection, collaboration tools, and content management
- Experience in providing support to students, faculty, and staff; or equivalent experience
- Experience with delivering support for the use of technology in an educational setting
- Experience facilitating educational workshops and seminars
- Strong computer skills for educational technology support, including Blackboard Collaborate, Quercus, Polling, Lecture Capture, Windows OS, MAC OSX, web browsers, Zoom, YouTube and related platform technologies such as video encoders, video streaming and recordings; knowledge of social media integration; familiarity with mobile devices such as smart phones, tablets, and laptops. Facility with Drupal, WordPress and Articulate Storyline is an asset, as is facility with video/audio editing and recording
- Advanced skills in MS Office, including Word, Excel, Outlook
- Superior service orientation, good judgment, and ability to deal tactfully, personably and effectively with students, faculty, and staff
- Excellent problem solving, analytical and administrative skills including the ability to probe for additional information to identify problems and establish needs
- Strong communication (oral and written) and strong inquiry skills
- Ability to work well as a member of a collaborative project team, and ability to communicate effectively with instructors, students and staff from a range of academic and administrative levels
- Demonstrated initiative and ability to work independently
- Ability to meet deadlines and work effectively under pressure or with competing priorities
Assets (Nonessential):
- Familiarity with the University of Toronto and knowledge of U of Tpolicies and procedures that impact teaching and learning support
