This position is located in our office in Ottawa, Ontario. As a result of the global pandemic, SSHRC and NSERC employees are currently working remotely. When the current situation reverts, the successful candidate would normally be required to report and work onsite from the Ottawa office. Please note that the candidate is responsible for any relocation fees. The employer will not accept any expense claims.

Job Summary
The Program Assistant (PA) upholds the integrity and quality of the agency’s programs and peer review processes by providing administrative, technical and scheduling support. Through the knowledge and communication of information about the agency’s systems, policies and procedures, the PA provides quality frontline assistance to partnering organization and/or students, applicants, and grant holders applying for grants, scholarships, fellowships, awards or prizes issued through its programs.
Statement of Qualifications
Education
High School Diploma or equivalent approved by the Public Service Commission (PSC)
Experience
Sound* experience in providing administrative support services
Sound* experience with current office technologies and standard software packages
Experience** in client relations
Experience** in grants and contributions funding administration would be considered an asset
*Sound is equivalent to one (1) or more years of experience.
**Less than one (1) year of experience.
Knowledge
Knowledge of administrative procedures
Knowledge of the Council’s policies, programs, and objectives
General Knowledge of the Access to Information and Protection of Privacy Act and the Official Languages Act
General Knowledge of peer review would be considered an asset
Abilities
Ability to plan, prioritize, manage and coordinate a high volume of diverse activities under the pressure of tight deadlines
Ability to use word processing, spreadsheet, electronic document exchange and database software
Ability to be proactive within a team environment and work autonomously
