What’s the role?
The Payments and Checkout team is responsible for a pivotal part of the business, that crucial moment as customers decide to trust the business and make a purchase. As a Senior Product Designer, you’ll be applying your expertise to this key part of our customer’s journey. You will partner with the team to optimize the core purchasing flow, on both our web and mobile products. You’ll identify the highest impact design ideas, turn them into compelling customer experiences, test them super quickly, then launch the best of them. You’ll be joining the team at an exciting time, as they create a vision for the future and define cutting edge purchasing experiences that will scale our platform globally.
What is Product Design at Etsy?
Typically, product designers at Etsy work in a squad with a product manager, 3-5 engineers, researcher and analyst. Together they drive their own part of Etsy, deliver solutions to challenging problems and get feedback directly from customers.
Day to day, it looks like:
Discovering insights, opportunities, and requirements
Testing prototypes and hypotheses with users to collect feedback
Launching experiments and evaluating how they perform and how to iterate
Presenting your work to peers and leadership, async and in-person
Taking part in weekly design critiques, workshops, all hands and squad meetings
Thinking and writing about your process and documenting your decisions
This is a full-time, position located (eventually) in our Brooklyn, NY office. We offer flexible workplace policies that can accommodate work from home candidates who are comfortable traveling to an office location 2-3 times per week.
We’re also open to remote hires within all U.S. states except Hawaii and Alaska.

Qualifications
Senior level at Etsy means:
You can run independently or give direction to designers within your team
You can lead workshops and optimally align the group around a vision and approach
You have a track record of designing complex flows and customer journeys
You can think and design at a system level, not just interface elements or pages
You’ll regularly make use of your soft skills: listening, negotiating, decision-making
You’ll spend time providing mentorship to other designers
You’ll play a key part in hiring, onboarding, and improving our team’s culture and engagement
Qualities we value in designers:
