Who we are looking for
You have:
- a diploma or bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Mechatronics Engineering.
- minimum 5 years’ experience in the design and engineering of complex multi-disciplinary physical products.
- experience leading product development projects is an asset.
- experience in industries such as medical and assistive devices, health, wellness and safety related consumer goods preferred.
- experience applying mechanical engineering fundamentals to successfully solve complex design challenges
- electrical/electro-mechanical design experience is an asset.
- competency with computer aided design and engineering tools (e.g., SolidWorks, SW Simulation, etc.).
- proven ability to work directly and successfully with external customers and suppliers.
- work that garners praise from peers and customers and the results to prove it.
- a desire to be part of a high performing team.
- a passion and the perseverance for all aspects of product design, engineering and manufacturing.
You are someone who:
- listens intently and reacts with careful confidence and humility.

Responsibilities
As a Product Design Engineer reporting to the Product Development Team Lead, you will:
- design and engineer elegant and practical mechanical and electro-mechanical solutions.
- help plan and execute the design, testing and prototyping of cutting-edge products.
- use systematic research methods to draw out customer and end-user needs.
- collaborate with clients and lead them to sound design solutions.
- collaborate with the Inertia team and vendors to ensure a seamless customer experience and outstanding results.
- balance project scope, budget, timing, and deliverables.
- develop and encourage strong peer relationships across different functions, teams and geographies.
- use Inertia’s BPMS (Business and Product Management System) to guide daily work.
- identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities to help ensure a great customer and team experience.
- actively support and promote workplace health, safety and wellness.
- perform other relevant duties as assigned.

Employment Type: Full Time
Primary Work Location: Toronto, Ontario office (subject to pandemic restrictions) with remote work flexibility (subject to project demands).
Must be legally permitted to work in Canada. International travel may be required.
Annual Salary: $75K – 100K, commensurate with knowledge, skills, experience, and market conditions.
