About the Position:

This is a Part-time Support Staff Bargaining Unit – Regular Part-time (RPT) reporting to the Dean, School of Health, Community Services & Creative Design, working 4 hours per week at an hourly rate of $30.46 (Hiring for 3 positions).
The schedule will be determined at the commencement of the assignment and the location is Main Campus.

Specific Accountabilities:

  • Demonstrates correct techniques for the use of materials and equipment and ensures safe operation of lab facilities, equipment, and tools
  • Prepares and plans instructional materials, works closely with faculty, and provides technical expertise of a specialized nature to students by demonstrating and explaining previously taught theory to students;
  • Is conversant with each lab requirement(s) and the intended objectives
  • Promotes, reinforces, tests and evaluates practical lab skills for students
  • Maintains inventory including ordering supplies to ensure a timely delivery of course materials, equipment parts, supplies, printed materials, audio-visual aids, etc.;
  • Laboratory set-up and breakdown;
  • Ensures computer software is functioning properly;
  • Checks student activity
  • Other responsibilities as required.

Qualifications:

  • Licensure in good standing with the Ontario College of Pharmacists is required
  • Two-year Pharmacy Technician diploma is required
  • Registered as a Pharmacy Technician with the Ontario College of Pharmacists is required;
  • At least three years of pharmacy experience is an asset;
  • Previous experience providing instructional support in a postsecondary environment is an asset;
  • Well-developed analytical, problem-solving and evaluation skills required to troubleshoot, problem solve and provide analytical solutions to a wide variety of situations;
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills;
  • Demonstrated commitment to student success and satisfaction;
  • Proven initiative, due diligence, professionalism and strong work ethic that embraces flexibility;
  • Ability to learn new technical information quickly and demonstrate a commitment to ongoing professional development in the Pharmacy field.
  • Availability during week days is required
