Status: Temporary Part-time (approx. 6 months)
University Health Network (UHN) is looking for an experienced professional to fill the key role of Pharmacy Technician in our COVID-19 Vaccination Centres. UHN currently has two COVID-19 vaccination centres – one at MaRS building (101 College street) and one at the Michener Institute (222 St. Patrick street). The Energy of the City. As an integral member of the Pharmacy Services team at the UHN COVID-19 Vaccination Centres, the PHARMACY TECHNICIAN is responsible for: sterile preparation of COVID-19 vaccines including dilution, dose preparation utilizing aseptic technique; performing the necessary mathematical calculations to prepare vaccine products; replenishing stock medication supplies for assigned areas when needed
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
- Completion of an accredited college level Pharmacy Technician Program required and if graduated prior to 2008, Certification with the Ontario College of Pharmacists (CPhT) or completion of Pharmacy Examination Board of Canada (PEBC) Evaluating Exam required.
- Certificate of competency from the Pharmacy Examination Board of Canada preferred.
- Active licensure with the Ontario College of Pharmacists (OCP) as Registered Pharmacy Technician (RPhT) preferred.
Experience:
- Certification (R.Ph.T.) by the Ontario College of Pharmacists preferred.
- Experience or aptitude in aseptic medication preparation
- Previous hospital experience with intravenous admixture service preferred.
- Ability to work under minimal supervision and to manage competing priorities/deadlines.
- Ability to work variable shifts.
Professional Affiliations/Memberships:
- Membership with the Canadian Association of Pharmacy Technicians (CAPT) preferred.
Additional Skills/Abilities:
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent organizational skills, ability to multi-task including helping finish work tasks when the primary task has been completed
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
