This is a non-retail setting – no flyers, no rainchecks, no face-to-face patient interaction – just working alongside a great team of pharmacy support staff, pharmacists, technicians and others on a mission to provide great service to patients in a focused and unique manner, using phone, chat and email. You will still have some patient contact, but related to prescription ordering, billing through insurance and delivery. Communication would also occur with doctor’s offices and insurance companies and work would involve supporting prescription delivery and problem-solving.

Advantages
– Competitive starting hourly wage rate based on years of experience as a Pharmacy Assistant specifically relating to prescription entry, billing/adjudication; overtime is infrequent but at times available/requested and paid in accordance with Employment Standards Legislation (after 44 hours per week)
– This is a direct-hire, full-time career opportunity (the successful candidate is our client’s employee from day one – this is not a temp role)
– This is a full-time schedule of 5 days per week, 8-hour shifts between the hours of 8:00 am – 9:00 pm (shifts may occur any day of the week including weekends; shift times typically run from 8:00 am – 4:00 pm or 1:00 pm – 9:00 pm); weekends are required but are shared on a rotating basis; some holiday hours may be requested/required

Responsibilities
– Deliver quality patient service through phone, email, text messages, and live chat regarding prescription orders (refills or new prescriptions), prescription transfers-in/out, insurance billing (i.e. adjudication to insurers like the ODB = Ontario Drug Benefit and private health insurers) and assist patient with shipping issues and other inquiries
– Communicate with doctors and pharmacies for refill and transfer requests
– Examine inventory and prepare ordering sheets if required
– Utilize understanding of commonly prescribed medications to deliver quality patient service
– Handle confidential patient information
– This is a desk-based role that is focused on patient contact and prescription ordering and administrative fulfillment of those prescription orders (this is not a dispensary technical role but an administrative one)
Qualifications
– Our ideal candidate has 3 to 5 years’ experience as a pharmacy assistant in any setting but with direct experience completing the intake of prescriptions and insurance card information, as well as adjudication (billing) to insurance companies and supporting problem-solving by calling insurance companies to clarify information
– Candidates with less than 3 years’ experience are also encouraged to apply – please note that pay rates offered to candidates with less experience than the ideal range may be offered a rate that is aligned to experience level, which may differ from our estimated range
– Excellent written and verbal communication skills to ensure professional communication with patients via text, email and live chat
– Detail-oriented and accurate in all aspects of your work as a Pharmacy Assistant
– Availability for all shifts including weekends as per business needs
– Knowledge of any pharmacy software (intake of prescriptions and insurance adjudication/billing to insurers) is required
