We are looking for a Pharmacy Assistant for an employer on the cutting edge of the online pharmacy industry, located in Mississauga. As the main point of contact for customers/patients, the Pharmacy Assistant acts as the face of the company and plays an essential role in maintaining the company’s reputation for a smooth and convenient customer experience. The Pharmacy Assistant provides customer/patient service over telephone, email and live chat, fills prescriptions according to industry regulations, communicates with healthcare providers, addresses shipping issues, and maintains patient confidentiality at all times.

This is a permanent position and we are looking for candidates with availability to start immediately in the Mississauga area. This employer is known for their team environment and employee support – they offer a training program over the first couple weeks to ensure you are set up for success!

Responsibilities
What YOU will be doing as a Pharmacy Assistant in this non-retail setting:

– Deliver quality patient service through phone, email, text messages, and live chat regarding prescription orders (refills or new prescriptions), prescription transfers-in/out, insurance billing (i.e. adjudication to insurers like the ODB = Ontario Drug Benefit and private health insurers) and assist patient with shipping issues and other inquiries
– Communicate with doctors and pharmacies for refill and transfer requests.
– Examine inventory and prepare ordering sheets if required
– Utilize understanding of commonly prescribed medications to deliver quality patient service
– Handle confidential patient information
– This is a desk-based role that is focused on patient contact and prescription ordering and administrative fulfillment of those prescription orders (this is not a dispensary technical role but an administrative one)

Qualifications
What YOU bring to the role of Pharmacy Assistant:

– 1-2 years of pharmacy experience where you completed the intake of prescriptions and adjudication (billing) to insurance companies
– Excellent written and verbal communication skills to ensure professional communication with patients via text, email and live chat
– Detail-oriented
– Availability for all shifts including weekends as per business needs
– Knowledge of any pharmacy software (intake of prescriptions and insurance adjudication / billing to insurers) is required (WinRx is ideal)
– Able to work independently and also as a team player
