Position Summary
Reporting to the Director, Integrated Care, the Pandemic Support Assistant will support our community in a variety of settings. Assistants will greet individuals (patients and OSMH Team Members) at the Assessment Center, conduct a verbal and/or written screening, and ensuring individuals who are entering the Assessment Center are donning masks, practicing hand hygiene and any other infection control measures as required. The Pandemic Support Assistant may be asked to assist with wayfinding and portering within the hospital and will be deployed to various geographical areas as the need arises at the discretion of the Director, Integrated Care. The position requires that Pandemic Support Assistant wear droplet personal protective equipment (PPE) which includes gown, gloves, and mask at times, as directed by the healthcare team. Additionally, the Pandemic Support Assistant must be able to withstand a significant amount of walking, standing, and general movement. The Pandemic Support Assistant may be deployed to work with health care professionals within the community.
Qualifications
- Ontario Secondary School Graduation Diploma or equivalent is required
- Preference given to candidates with previous healthcare work and/or volunteer experience
- First Aide Certificate considered an asset
- Demonstrated excellent communication skills in English (both verbal and written) and interpersonal skills to positively interact with a range of individuals in a variety of situations, which require tact, discretion and confidentiality,
- Demonstrated ability to be highly motivated and flexible with the ability to adapt quickly to new situations/challenges,
- Demonstrated ability to organize and prioritize workload and multitask under pressure,
- Demonstrated attention to detail and a strong commitment to quality
- Demonstrated ability to work both independently and as a productive team member,
- Demonstrated the ability to provide excellent customer service to all patients and system stakeholders
- Demonstrated knowledge of infection control practices,
- Demonstrated ability to attend work on a regular basis
- Flexible availability to work varied shifts (days, evenings, nights and weekends).
