Job description: Reporting to the Dean, Faculty of Applied Health and Community Studies (FAHCS), the Office Manager is the primary contact for the day-to-day operations for the Faculty Office spaces, a key contributor to frontline service for students, and leader within the Faculty in supporting special events and student success. The Office Manager oversees the activities associated with delivering service to the FAHCS community and provides supervision and leadership to the activities of the Program Support Specialists (PSS’s) to ensure exceptional customer service. This includes ensuring the following: 1) faculty have the requisite classroom materials and support, 2) program materials are ordered, received and distributed, and 3) office maintenance and employee engagement are sustained at a high level. The Office Manager leads the Faculty response to classroom and laboratory deficiencies (e.g. safety issues) and liaises with the appropriate departments at Sheridan. The Office Manager also leads and acts as a system navigator for complex student situations pertaining to accessing resources at Sheridan. The incumbent is accountable for leadership and promotion of student and program-related events/initiatives and ensuring event successes are shared through social media. This includes leading the planning and organization of Faculty retreats and meetings, attending student orientation and serving as the Faculty lead for organizing open house events and preparing facilities for student recruitment. The Office Manager supports the ongoing development and improvement of Faculty resources, including the information pertaining to program pages. As a contributor, the incumbent documents program events and provides feedback to the marketing team regarding program page content. This work is done in partnership with other members of the FAHCS team.
What You’ll be Doing
- Optimizing staff performance and building professional capacity through effective recruiting, selection, development, mentoring/coaching, workflow/goal setting and ongoing performance management;
- Ensuring PSS are updated on all policies and procedures; Supporting PSS during peak periods;
- Developing procedures and leading the execution of how to support front-line faculty and staff;
- Facilitating orientation and on-boarding of new Faculty hires (e.g. space, technical requirements);
- Working with Sheridan community to organize Orientation, student recruitment and Faculty meetings/retreats;
- Leading and managing the FAHCS social media accounts and daily activities of the Digital Content Specialist; Developing, executing and maintaining social media strategy;
- Managing the FAHCS office operation budget; Ensuring materials to support classes are ordered and accounted;
- Acting as the lead consultant for renovation projects including conducting regular check-up with the facilities team;
- Performing other related duties, as assigned.

The successful candidate will also meet the following qualifications:
- 3 year degree/diploma in Office Administration or other related field
- 6 years of progressive experience in operations and/or administration, preferably in a post-secondary environment (or an equivalent combination of relevant education and experience)
- Project management experience; Financial acumen or budget experience
- Project Management Professional (PMP®) or similar designation will be considered an asset

Other Details
Campus Location: Davis (may be assigned activities at any Sheridan campus) once normal campus operations resume. This position is currently working remotely.
