JOB SUMMARY
The Personal Support Worker, under the direction of the immediate Supervisor, provides personal care services to clients and assists clients with the activities of daily living as described in the care plan, and in accordance with all required internal and external standards of practice.
WHAT THIS POSITION HAS TO OFFER NURSING STUDENTS
$19.38/hr.

Paid travel time at $14.25/hr in community

Position is also open to Developmental Service Workers (DSW), Health Care Aide (HCA), Paramedics, Home Support Worker (HSW), Foreign trade nurses/physicians and Midwives

Qualifications
Education
Candidates must be a Nursing Student. Must have completed one (1) year of College in Nursing or at least two (2) years of University in Nursing.
The Worker must, within their scope of practice, have a solid knowledge of the principles, practices and methods of community nursing and the delivery of personal care service to clients.
Experience
At least two (2) Years of recent personal care experience in a similar position or life experience in which similar duties were completed. Experience in pediatric and geriatric services is an asset.
Other Skills and Abilities
Ability to communicate verbally and in writing in English is a must. All other languages an asset. Exceptional interpersonal skills and ability to work independently and as part of a team; able to stand, bend, squat, kneel and reach freely; able to freely lift 23 kilograms; able to assist clients with standing, walking, sitting and rolling in bed; demonstrated ability to follow written and verbal instructions as related to client care;
Must be available to work a minimum of 20 hours per week and every other weekend, both Saturday AND Sunday.
Able to travel from assignment to assignment; Having a valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle is an asset.
