Job title: Nursing Station Clerk 1/Trainee (NSC)

Job description: Job Summary: Depending on experience, a traineeship is required for 26 weeks at SG06 level. Upon satisfactory completion of traineeship, incumbent is promoted to a journeyman title, SG07. Duties include but not limited to: refer incoming calls and messages; greet and assist visitors; record preparation; initiate patient services; process physician and nursing staff orders; and input of patient registration and other relevant information into hospital computer system. Must be able to communicate effectively in order to transfer information, as well as complete a variety of tasks within a given time frame. Excellent communication and organizational skills are necessary. Computer skills and knowledge of medical terminology desired.
Minimum Qualifications:
New York State Department of Civil Service Eligible List or eligible for transfer.

To be considered for a Provisional appointment: Must have had one-year full-time clerical (in healthcare setting), secretarial (in healthcare setting), or patient care experience. ONLY experience in healthcare setting will be considered qualifying.
