Long Island Select Healthcare Inc. (LISH) is a comprehensive network of community health centers under a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) model. We provide Article 16 and 28 clinic services at 3 locations across Suffolk County, New York.

LISH is currently searching for several Full-Time Medical Assistants to support our Behavioral Health Department. Please note this position requires you to be a Medical Assistant. The Behavioral Health Care Assistant maintains a safe patient care environment while medical assisting where necessary and providing clerical/administrative support. This position will report to the Behavioral Health Care Manager.
General Duties:
- Obtain vital signs (blood pressure, pulse, temperature respiration) at each appointment.
- Manages & maintains office & exam rooms, including virtual care visit offices.
- Assists Behavioral Health providers with procedures (i.e. genesight testing)
- Assists the Behavioral Health Department with LISH’s PCMH initiative, as needed.
- Conducts pre-visit planning activities including, but not limited to:
- Review of patient medication prior to scheduled appointment
- Verification of patient insurance coverage
- Obtaining and/or follow-up on all prior authorizations related to behavioral health services, including psychiatric medications
- Confirmation of scheduled appointments
- Pre-screening patients with the use of provider-directed screening & assessment tools, as applicable (i.e. PHQ-9)
- Conducts post-visit activities including, but not limited to:
- Scheduling new and recurring mental health related appointments such as the following: Intakes, Psychiatric Appts, Psychological Evals, Neuropsychological Testing, and Mental Health Counseling
- Processing mental health referrals
- Reviews ICD-10 and CPT coding for insurance processing, scrubs completed encounters.
- Schedules emergency appointments, as required.
- Tracks plans of care for providers as instructed.
- Tracks medication management cases for providers on an as-needed basis, including entering reports into REMS.
- Tracks I-Stops for patients receiving controlled substances.
- Supports the BH Department by handling all incoming and outgoing telephone calls and/or telephone encounters, as assigned.
- Supports LISH through logging general BHI or CCM activities/minutes spent in enrolled patient records for the purposes of meeting monthly care coordination requirements.
- Provides support to Medical Department or CCM on an as-needed basis.
- Filing and copying, scanning documents into eCw. Processes Medical records as needed, or as assigned.
- Means and ability to travel between agency buildings.
- All other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- Behavioral Health experience preferred
- Certified Medical Assistant required.
- 2 To 5 years of experience serving people with medical illness and/or developmental disabilities preferred
- EMR experience preferred (i.e eClinicalWorks)
- Bilingual in English and Spanish is a plus
- Customer-friendly attitude
- Ability and means to travel between sites
Valid NYS Driver’s License
