As we focus on being a high reliability hospital and maintaining the highest level of evidenced-based standards of practice, we are seeking a Manager, Pharmacy Services who will oversee the day-to-day operations of our state-of-the-art Pharmacy Services, provide safe and effective medication distribution and clinical services to patients in all clinical units that facilitate successful patient treatment outcomes in compliance with legal, regulatory and accreditation standards.

Reporting Relationship: Director, Pharmacy Services
Hiring Salary Range: $98,687 – $104,855
Position Responsibilities:
- Oversee daily pharmacy operations across all physical sites (e.g. unit-dose drug distribution system, automated drug distribution systems, medication management/distribution system, narcotics and controlled drugs, centralized intravenous additive (CIVA) program, cancer chemotherapy program, total parenteral nutrition program, compounding and prepackaging functions, pharmacy information systems and clinical services).
- Monitor and maintain adherence to government legislation, professional standards and practices (e.g. Narcotic and Controlled Drug Regulations, Federal and Provincial regulations, Occupational Health and Safety requirements) and hospital/pharmacy policies and procedures to address issues as they arise; monitor compounding process operations for procedural compliance.
- Provide signing authority and accountability for ordering, receiving and security of Narcotics and Controlled Drugs.
- Act as a professional liaison to provide subject matter expertise as a resource for hospital leadership teams, clinical and medical staff, and allied health professional staff to addresses daily operational needs and decision-making.
- Develop and maintain Pharmacy services that respond to changing customer needs and promote customer service delivery excellence.
- Enhance patient care quality in collaboration with clinical Program Directors, Managers, Leaders, and Physicians.
- Develop and promote service quality management programs that enhance safe medication use and improve patient safety.
- Audit quality performance indicators (e.g. high risk medications, appropriate venous thromboembolism prophylaxis)
- Manage medication processes to ensure quality of medications and patient safety.
Qualifications:
- Baccalaureate of Science in Pharmacy
- Post-graduate degree in management or clinical pharmacy practice (preferred)
- Completion of a Pharmacy Residency Program (preferred)
- Registration in Ontario College of Pharmacists – Part A (Pharmacists providing direct patient care)
- A minimum of (5) five years of Hospital Pharmacy Management
- Exceptional analytical and information-seeking skills that contribute to effective decision-making and strategic planning and execution of action plans that deliver results and motivate individuals for greater performance excellence
- Ability to work with a diverse group of stakeholders
- Experience managing in a multi-union environment
- Track record for using research to create a quality and safety culture and means for monitoring and communicating results that is meaningful to team members and inspires continuous improvement
- Self-directed, courageous, and highly motivated with excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Experience managing competing demands in a fast-paced, multi-site, multi-disciplinary health care environment
- Demonstrated strategic approach with evidence of change management capability
- Knowledge and ability to facilitate meetings, conduct effective briefings and presentations both internally and externally with stakeholders who reflect the full range of diverse objectives
- Excellent attendance and discipline free record required.
