Job Description :

Hands-on Data Architect / Data Modeler

Project Info:
Data Architect/Data Modeler resource will sit within an SME business function within Corporate Treasury (part of BNYM Finance), named Asset Liability Management (ALM). Among other responsibilities, ALM is responsible for firmwide balance sheet forecasting and planning.
Project-based role in support of a new platform for firmwide forecasting & budgeting. The central Treasury team is leading an effort to reimagine two distinct forecasting processes in order to merge them into 1 integrated platform using third party vendor based software, Quantitative Risk Management (QRM). The new forecasting platform will feed existing finance systems for reporting as well as a Treasury specific data visualization toolset.
The project is atypical in nature, being proportionally executed 20% by the technology teams and 80% by multiple business teams. The candidate will be part of the Treasury business function responsible for project execution and will be the senior Data Architect/Data Modeller resource. The prior resource obtained a full-time position within the broader ALM team.
The first phase of the project is expected to Go Live by end of 4Q21 with a subsequent phase to Go Live by 3Q22.

Responsibilities:
Partner with the senior business lead to understand requirements and work through use cases in order to recommend the implementation of a data model (from scratch) or new pieces into an in-flight data model.
Leverage deep subject matter knowledge of best database design /data modelling principles related to setting up keys, relational db structure, data lineage, operational efficiency, etc.
Document via current state and target state process maps (in Vizio).
Understand the firm’s forecasting operational cycle and utilize business process reengineering skillset to design the most optimal operational dimensions.
Lead development of reconciliation, validation and control tools that can be leveraged in multiple phases of the project and post Go Live.

Required Skills:
Minimum 7-10yrs hands on experience of SQL server database design / data modelling / ETL for an enterprise-level application within Corporate Treasury / Finance / Risk function (eg General Ledger, Finance MIS / Reporting system, a firmwide risk Credit Risk / Market Risk / Liquidity risk platform, etc.)
Hands on database design experience from scratch / significant modifications is key as this resource will not only develop the architecture on paper but also build it hands on as part of the business team (there’s no separate development team) and potentially guide other technical resources on the team.
Knowledge of Vizio in order to document current state architecture / processes and propose target state / processes is required.
Knowledge of balance sheet and financial instruments, finance / management reporting systems, Net Interest Income / Expense calculations, and Funds Transfer Pricing a plus.
Strong working knowledge of SQL in order to perform data analysis to validate business requirements and propose fact based solutions.
Candidate must be a self-starter, willing to learn new content and tools/processes quickly in order to contribute.
Ability to work well and communicate with technical and non-technical resources (ie stakeholders of varying expertise).
Strong organizational skills and proactive nature (expected to drive creative solutioning of requirements without significant guidance).
Experience in all facets of designing enterprise-level application is preferred in order to guide other technical resources.
Communication ability via video conferencing will be a key factor in final candidate decisions.
Geographically open but will need to support EST business hours.
