Responsibilities
Maintaining supply inventory in the lab, performs general housekeeping tasks, and safe transport of surgical specimens. Demonstrates ability to work in a fast-paced healthcare environment. Adheres to safety requirements and uses the proper protective equipment such as:gloves, masks and lab coats as needed. Demonstrates housekeeping tasks in maintaining the laboratory in a clean and orderly way. Empties waste containers and properly seals and removes the biohazard waste containers. Mops up spills. Demonstrates the ability for heavy lifting, pushing, pulling and distributing of supplies, carts, boxes and other items. Orders and delivers supplies to the correct refrigerator and or stock room. Rotates inventory when putting away the supplies. Successfully picks up STAT blood samples from Out Patient and Nursing Department and brings them to the specimen room. Picks up surgical specimens and brings them to Histology. Properly cleans the grossing area in Histology. Changes the temperature chart on the walk in refrigerator. Follows St. John’s Riverside Hospital attendance policy Regular attendance and timeliness are required in your job. This includes the following: (1) being at your work station ready for work by the start of your shift (2) taking only the time allowed for breaks (3) remaining at work during your entire shift, unless excused by a supervisor (4) leaving promptly at the end of your shift, unless you have been given advance permission from your supervisor to work past that point; and (5) calling in and personally notifying your supervisor or another member of management if you are going to be either absent or tardy, unless a verifiable emergency makes it impossible for you to do so.
Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED required. On the Job training; knowledge of medical terminology, and filing Ability to distinguish and identify colors. Ability to understand written and verbal instructions. Must be courteous and pleasant in busy, high pressure area. Complete Meditech and PACS training.
Expected salary: $17799 per year
