What you will do
We are seeking individuals who possess a background in Java development with a behavior-driven development (BDD) and/or test-driven development (TDD) mind-set with strong interpersonal skills to join a team of dedicated and innovative professionals in Information Technology Services (ITS).

The successful candidate will be comfortable working in an agile environment with test driven and behavioral driven development practices. The candidate will be experienced with developing and testing software for large project initiatives and will also be required to perform 3rd line support on a rotational basis. This role assumes the candidate is seasoned in Java development and can be an agent of change to encourage others to adopt good practices.

Your core interpersonal and communication skills will be invaluable as you collaborate with the business support group and end users to explore the future of the application.

You will:

  • analyze, design, implement enhancements, and create test automation scripts to meet business requirements
  • maintain collaborative relationships with technology partners and internal stakeholders
  • perform technical and root-cause analysis on issues and make recommendation for correction
  • bring in and promote best in class development and test automation practices such as test-driven development and devops
  • provide third-line support, including on-call, shift and/or weekend work as required
  • willingness to learn the ins and outs of the Findur application in order to better support the Business
  • research, evaluate, recommend and apply appropriate methods, tools, processes and software for performing or improving automation activities

What you need to succeed
You have hands-on experience and understanding in or with:

  • Java-based application development using Eclipse IDE, preferably with Oracle RBMS in the backend
  • test driven development using libraries and tools such as mocking frameworks, JUnit, Cucumber, Gherkin, etc.
  • developing or supporting client-server Java API based test automation
  • Oracle databases; solid understanding of SQL
  • supporting applications with high-criticality, availability, reliability, and security requirements
  • information systems and application architecture standards
  • analyzing and interpreting complex problems or processes that span multiple business areas
  • identifying and understanding requirements as well as developing alternate solutions

Nice-to-have

  • working in Agile software development
  • performance testing
  • financial applications/systems
  • experience with Findur, data warehouses and/or with COTS applications

Your education and experience
This position requires a bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering or a related discipline and relevant experience, a minimum of five years of relevant work experience in Java application development and a minimum of five years of relevant work experience in client-server Java API level test automation

  • You will work remotely from any location within Canada while the Bank operates under mandatory telework. Flexibility for remote work for the duration of the term may be granted.

  • Salaries are based on qualifications and experience and typically range from $80,300 to $94,400 (job grade 16)
  • Depending on performance, you may be eligible for performance pay for successfully meeting (5 to 7% of your base salary) or for exceeding expectations (10% of your base salary). Exceptional performers who far exceed expectations may be eligible for higher performance pay.
