What you will do
As an IT Security Monitoring Specialist for the cloud (MS Azure), you provide vital Bank-wide security services, ensuring the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of the Bank’s information assets by using a portfolio of IT security tools within Azure. Based on your skills and knowledge of Azure, you will also help guide the expansion of cloud (MS Azure) security monitoring practice by recommending and evolving the cyber security monitoring governance model, adapting it to the cloud and on-premises environments. You will also review and validate emerging cloud threats, help with the creation of cloud detection engineering use cases, follow established alert and investigation methodologies, recommend process improvements, recommend new cyber capabilities for the cloud, and assist in the cyber incident response process for the cloud.
In addition, you will:
- review cloud security alerts to determine their severity and escalate if required
- perform IT security monitoring and incident response to IT security incidents for the cloud
- detect, analyze and implement approved security safeguards to limit intrusions and incidents
- respond to IT security incidents and perform threat analyses, as directed
- work with industry organizations, Bank stakeholders, business partners and technology teams to develop cyber security defensive techniques and best practices for the cloud (MS Azure)
What you need to succeed
This position requires that you have:
- thorough understanding of MS Azure
- proven understanding and in-depth knowledge of MS’s security portfolio, including MS Sentinel
- thorough understanding of enterprise systems and infrastructure, network-based services and client/server applications
- proficiency in analyzing and quantifying computer security risks for vulnerabilities and incidents
- excellent communication skills and ability to document and explain technical details clearly and concisely
Nice-to-have
- comprehensive knowledge and experience with host-based investigation and EDR tools
- direct experience in analyzing security events using event aggregation and correlation systems, including SIEM capabilities
- familiarity with information technology infrastructure library (ITIL) concepts and practices
- experience in programming/scripting languages
Your education and experience
This position requires a college diploma or a bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or related discipline with three or more years of work experience in the field of information and technology security, with a concentration on information security

- Language requirement: English or French essential
- Priority will be given to Canadian citizens and permanent residents
- Security level required: Secret
- You will work remotely from any location within Canada while the Bank operates under mandatory telework. Flexibility for remote work for the duration of the term may be granted.

- Salaries are based on qualifications and experience and typically range from $80,258 to $94,421 (job grade 16)
- Depending on performance, you may be eligible for performance pay for successfully meeting (5 to 7% of your base salary) or for exceeding expectations (10% of your base salary). Exceptional performers who far exceed expectations may be eligible for higher performance pay.
