Section 70.1 Transfer: Candidates must have one year of permanent competitive or 55 b/c service in any of the following titles: Chief Computer Operator, Information Technology Specialist 3 (Data Communication), Information Technology Specialist 3 (Database), Information Technology Specialist 3 (Systems Programming), Information Technology Specialist 4, Information Technology Specialist 4 (Operations) or Mapping Technologist 3.
Section 52.6 Transfer: Candidates must have one year of permanent competitive or 55b/c service in a title allocated SG-21 or higher eligible to transfer under Section 52.6 of the Civil Service Law. 55 b/c Appointment: This position is eligible for 55 b/c designation and is subject to verification of applicant eligibility. Candidates must possess the minimum qualifications and a current 55 b/c eligibility letter.

Duties Description The New York State Education Department’s Office (NYSED) of Performance Improvement and Management Services is seeking candidates for an Information Technology Specialist 3 position in the Office of Information Technology Services. Duties of this position include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Oversee the day-to-day operations of the ITS Video Conference and Audio-Visual Unit;
- Provide video conference and audio-visual support to Department staff in Albany and 40+ remote locations including research, procurement, deployment, troubleshooting, and daily support;
- Schedule and support daily NYSED video conferences and conference room technology;
- Monitor and assist Audio-Visual unit activities during Regents Meetings, press conferences and other events;
- Research and coordinate video conference solutions;
- Coordinate event technical activities with vendor business partners;
- Plan and execute procurements associated with audio-visual and video conferencing modernization and expansion;
- Assist customers to provide special request training in Audio Visual tools;
- Provide daily technology assistance to customers organizing meetings and events;
- Work with technical contacts of NYSED stakeholder groups to coordinate joint video conference meetings;
- Maintain and analyze monthly, quarterly and annual statistics regarding services provided by the Unit;
- Provide direction to staff in the development of plans and schedules to review and test new products;
- Assist with ITS technical liaison work for Executive staff providing direct technology support and troubleshooting; and
- Participate on special project teams and coordinate associated technology support needs with other units.
Additional Comments CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT: This will be a permanent appointment. Promotions and transfers may change appointees’ negotiating unit. Candidates should be aware that changes in negotiating units may affect their salary, insurance, and other benefits. Verification of degree and/or work experience will be required at the time of interview for all candidates.
- Leads to a maximum salary of $92,693 based on annual performance advances.
