Job description: The Information Security Analyst supports the overall security strategy, policies, and procedures at Sheridan and collaborates with clients on solutions to mitigate risks and enhance system security. The incumbent performs daily security activities and maintenance for Sheridan’s enterprise systems as well as security audits, investigations, risk analysis, and application-level vulnerability testing and reviews. The Information Security Analyst is a contributor in developing security awareness materials, security presentations, and information security training sessions. The incumbent deals with information of a highly sensitive and confidential nature on an ongoing basis, including incidents and security breaches.

What You’ll be Doing

  • Performing daily security maintenance and activities for enterprise systems.
  • Performing security knowledge transfer to assist in making security part of normal IT and College activities.
  • Monitoring/responding to abuse complaints (copyright violations, online harassment/threats, hacking, spam).
  • Executing protocols to evaluate, test, assess and improve the integrity and effectiveness of security infrastructure (e.g. Firewalls, Intrusion Detection System, other security devices).
  • Monitoring information security trends (internal and external) and keeping others in IT and other Sheridan groups, informed about information security-related issues/activities.
  • Advising on the development, implementation, and maintenance of Sheridan’s information security policy, standards, and guidelines.
  • Ensuring security issues are successfully dealt with and mitigated.
  • Informing Sheridan faculties/departments about information security best practices, procedures, and policies.
  • Performing other security related duties as assigned.

About You

You have the ability to collaborate with others in a professional and diplomatic manner to advance initiatives.

You enjoy balancing many different tasks and can prioritize multiple projects while staying organized and maintaining a high level of attention to detail.

You have excellent oral and written communication skills.

The ideal candidate will possess a 3-year diploma/degree in Information systems security, information assurance, computer science or a related discipline along with 2 years progressive industry experience in information technology, including experience with internet technology and security issues. (Equivalency will be considered)

The successful candidate will also have:

  • Up-to-date skills and knowledge through professional activities.
  • Knowledge of current technologies and trends, familiarity with various desktop computer applications to prepare reports, project plans, and presentations.
  • A security and criminal background verification may be required prior to hire.

Other Details

Campus Location: Trafalgar (may be assigned activities at any Sheridan campus) once normal campus operations resume. This position is currently working remotely.

Salary Range: $ 67,867 – $84,834
