Job description: Sage Recruiting is looking for a Founding Engineer/Head of Technology for a startup based in Canada (Remote/EST Time zone). They received 16mm in Seed Funding, the largest seed funding round in Canadian history, and will be building a groundbreaking, completely disruptive product focused on the real estate industry.
The product is a free online auction platform designed for purchasing and selling real estate. This is going to revolutionize the home-buying process. If you have an interest in changing the messy process of dealing with expensive agents, holding offers and reduced buyer transparency, this could be a great fit.
The MVP is 30% built and we need someone to come on board to get them to the finish line, then help grow and lead the team. You should have a deep understanding of product, architecture and clean software design. You should have experience in a startup, building product from start to finish and mentoring, hiring and growing teams (ability to lead, experience is less important). You will be the sole lead developer so experience working independently and entrepreneurial spirit is a must. The architecture of the product is Java, SpringBoot, Hibernate and MySQL.
What we are looking for
- 8-15+ years’ experience with Java web app development
- Experience leading projects/product development end to end
- Past experience working on products and teams that have scaled quickly (startups!)
- Experience with mobile, web and desktop
- Deep understanding of modern architectures
- Experience with product development is a must
- Extensive knowledge of relational databases
- Expertise with SQL (complex queries)
- Experience with constructing clean codes in accordance with project standards
- Skilled in writing coherent documentation
- Systemic thinkers with a passion for research and strong problem-solving skills
- Keen and precise attention to details with exquisite documentation skills
- Deep understanding of modern development practices, modular architecture and (bonus) microservices
- Passion for best-practices and extremely detail-oriented
- Team players that can work independently with minimal supervision
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
