Canadian Blood Services is looking for a Financial Analyst II to join our Corporate Services Financial Planning and Analysis Division. In this role, you will provide strategic input into operational issues and will be accountable for the delivery of financial planning and analysis services, such as budgeting, management reporting, general financial support and forecasting that support the achievement of business objectives. You will support the achievement of broad business goals by being the point person for financial analysis needs of the business, including cost/operational analysis for current and future state.
Key responsibilities include:
- Gains a thorough overall knowledge of assigned client group
- As a financial business partner, provides support to business leaders on all aspects of budgeting, reporting, and forecasting processes for current and future organizational objectives
- Manages the day-to-day financial activities to ensure compliance with established guidelines, processes, and identify cost saving opportunities
- Provides on-going training and mentoring to business leaders on budgeting, reporting, forecasting and general financial issues to improve financial performance
- Conducts process improvement analysis and plays a key role to identify, establish, and maintain financial and non-financial key performance indicators (KPIs)
- Manages reports and special analysis as required and provides financial and business administrative services required by business unit leaders
- Ensures the integrity of the financial system and compliance to all statutory and regulatory requirements
- Performs other duties as required by manager
Education, Training and Experience
- Has a CPA designation, or is actively enrolled in a Canadian CPA program with relevant post-secondary education
- Minimum 3 years relevant experience
- Understanding and experience in the use of SAP, or an equivalent ERP is required. Proficiency in FI – Financial Accounting, CO – Management Accounting and Controlling, MM – Materials Management
Demonstrated Skills and Abilities:
- Develops and articulates subject matter expertise for a portfolio (business unit or various business units) with a scope and complexity commensurate with their grade level and experience
- Has ability to build trust and relationships, providing appropriate independent guidance of the portfolio’s matters up to a business unit Associate Director
- Is developing their balance of head and heart leadership
- Takes directed and independent initiative in line with the FP&A strategy and their manager’s guidance
- Demonstrates judgement, business acumen, communication, and technical skills in-line with their portfolio’s complexity and the level of business clients requiring support
- Intermediate capabilities to summarize financial information and highlight salient points to present clear and well supported data and financial analysis; proficiency with spreadsheets and report writing software is expected
- An understanding of business and financial structures is required, with a demonstrated ability to think systemically and anticipate interdependent impacts of change across groups, systems and processes.
