Job title: Financial Analyst

Job description: Provide financial analysis and ancillary support in all aspects of the land development process.
Responsibilities:
- Monitor activity in the Canadian insurance industry, including development and maintenance of industry benchmarking databases and presentations
- Develop and/or maintain financial analysis to identify and assess acquisition targets and assess other corporate initiatives
- Credit analysis, covenant monitoring, and other recurring reporting duties required for new and existing broker investments
- Update quarterly on company’s stock price, analysts’ forecasts, investor perceptions, peer company and industry performance.
- Conduct investor targeting analysis for conferences to provide proactive insight into current and prospective shareholders.
- Develop a suite of analysis focused on reinsurance and reinsurer performance
- Support the Business Plan and Forecast processes including identifying opportunities for improvement
- Responsible for the annual budgeting, forecasting and strategic planning processes including preparation of the annual budgets through information gathering, preparation and maintenance of detailed financial models.
- Accountable for accurate information reporting, including the preparation, maintenance and analysis of complex worksheets supporting monthly, quarterly and annual reporting processes.
- Prepare monthly variance reporting and deep-dive reviews to improve the accuracy of our forecasting and provide financial insights to Management.
- Provide support in monthly conversations with Business Partners to discuss insights, trends, risks and opportunities and adequately reflect rolling monthly projections of key performance indicators in month-end presentation.
- Provide leadership by utilizing quantitative and qualitative financial analysis to identify areas to improve, challenge viability of plans / forecasts and present insights to enable timely intervention.
- Participation in special projects with cross-functional Finance teams.
Academic/Professional Requirements:
University degree in Business, Finance, Real Estate, Engineering, or a related discipline
Any related designations, such as CFA, CA, MBA, would be an asset.
Required Skills/Experience:
Minimum two years professional work experience in related field;
Excellent knowledge and experience related to the appropriate use of technology and information systems in a business, finance, and/or real estate environment;
Excellent business judgment and numerical skills;
Excellent organization and time management skills in dealing with changing priorities in a fast-paced environment;
Strong work ethic and sense of urgency in meeting deadlines;
Strong financial and analytical skills as applied to sophisticated valuation/development models and sensitivity analysis.
